Question about Casio EXILIM Card EX-S770 Digital Camera

Casio Digital Camera ex-s770 will not open

When I push my on/off button on, the lens shutter opens up and expands but only for a second before it retracts. Also during that second or two, the image as seen through the LCD is very blurry.

Looking a pictures taken before this problem and stored on the SD card are ok.

Can anyone give me a clue what is wrong.

Dave

Hi, this is a problem alot of people get having with this type of camera.
It could be one of a couple of things first check the battery is fully charges as a faulty battery would cause this problem, do you have a switch on the camera that lets you see the pictures stored on it without opening the lense, not all makes and models do this some have switch you can slide and some is just push button the push button you cant do this.
So if yours is the push button one then the only thing to try if the battery isnt the problem is looking and removing anything thats caught in the side of lense.
Ok try removing battery and any mem cards if you have any in it then bang the camera firmly into the palm of your hand sort of shocking the camera to dislodge any thing thats stuck in the side of lense do this few times then replace battery and switch on usually this solves the problem.
If not then when you switch camera on grab the lense and help it come out taking it past where it gets stuck be gentle try this few times and see if camera comes on.
Once the lense is passed certain point the camera should come on.
So give that a try it does sound like something is jamming the lense so try pulling it out gently only do it when its supposed to be coming out when it trys to go back in let go again try this few times.
Failing this then the problem could be that either the camera has been put down with the lense open and forced the lense motor damaging it or the other thing that people tend to do is switch camera on acidently whilst its in pocket or case so that it switches on but the lense is blocked from coming out this causing damage to lense motor.
If the problem is in fact the lense motor then their is no way of getting this repaired they just dont repair these and you cant get the parts like lense motor no camera shop will even look at them as you cant get parts and also price of repair would cost more than replacing the camera.
Also check to see if your lense turns round as its coming in or out if it does this then try turning the lense as its coming out.
Let me know how you get on ok and ill try assist you further

If you can’t get the manufacturer to fix it or send you the parts you may want to try and fix it yourself. I found a guy in South Carolina who sells good used parts and will give you some suggestions on how to do it yourself. I bought a LCD from him for $39.00, fixed it myself and it works great. I think his email is gerald.ray@aa-ark.com

I have the same problem with my camera. Was fine taking pictures and then 10 min later it didn't want to work. Lens extends opens and then closes. The interesting thing is that it makes 2 buzz noises and then closes. So it has something to do with that noise as if it is trying to extend out further even thought it looks fully extended.

So I fixed my little camera.

I banged the snot out of it on my desk and it finally fully extended. The possible issue was that there was a grain of sand in it?

Either way my wife says from now on we keep it in our little Exlim case to protect it further.

    Good luck on fixing yours.

Hi! We currently have a problem with our camera (casio EX-S770). every picture i take outdoors are white, while indoors, the pictures horizontally striped, what should we do? and is there a CASIO company...

One of two likely problems. First possible problem is that you're not in auto mode, but one of the camera's manual modes (such as for night shots). First verify that you are indeed in automatic mode. Second possible problem may be a stuck shutter. A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Casio ex-z77/ lens error

you might have pushed the lens into the barrel. small lens barrel has 3 metal pins that ride inside the larger lens barrel as it twists. Pushing it sometimes cracks the plastic holding these 3 pins in. one way to fix it is to carefully disassemble the entire lens barrel. be careful...sometimes a part just snaps, or is already snapped. The easiest way would be to replace the lens assembly with a good one you can get from another camera like this. There are no spare parts for cams like this so you can try to get another cam that has a different damage other than the lens barrel.

This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Did you drop the camera? It seems like the lens mechanics are jammed. Try pulling the lens out of camera very gently with you fingers. Good luck!

Shutter having trouble opening and closing.

Hey SleepyFairy,
What it sounds like is that something sticky has gotten into the lens cover mechanism, and the only way to fix that is to have it repaired. If this camera is less that a year old it is most likely still covered under manufacturers warranty, and you should have it looked at by an authorized service technician to get it fixed.

Sincerely,
Allan
