Hi, the Garmin Nuvi 660 will only read SD Cards up to a capacity of 4Gb, the card must only be SD not SDHC. Also it is faster and a better policy to have and use a card reader on your computer to input the data to the SD card first before inserting it into your SatNav.
You can also free up a lot of your sat nav memory by deleating unwanted voices and pre installed unwanted mp3's by connecting your satnav to the computer and deleating them, you have quiet a few foreign languages in your memory incl Chez, French, German Ect-Ect
Regards Roy.

I had the same problem! until I realized that the Nuvi 660 can take up to two minutes to create the music database once it is turned on. Before that, switching to the mp3 player will show no music available... not even a message saying "plaese wait". I was scared that the player was not working until I tried a small 500 Mb card, and there it took about 20 sec to display the music library. With the 4Gb card fully loaded with 500 tracks, it is more than 2 minutes... It's pity that Garmion does not warn the user about this problem.

Are the songs in MP3 format? Typically you connect the GPS to the PC using the USB interface and using Windows Explorer, drag & drop the MP3 files into the GPS's MP3 subdirectory.

Then on the main screen, select travel tools and then the MP3 player. Select browse and choose a song.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

The Nuvi series cannot read SDHC cards. It only supports SD.

4gb is the highest-capacity SD card you can buy.

If you want to play mp3 songs from sd card then create mp3 folder and place all the songs in side that folder. Now when you go to Juke box menu it will scan all the songs and you will be able to play them the way you want..

I`d like to use the mp3 on my GPS but don`t know how to put music or pics on

You need a standard SD digital memory card (not the newer HC high capacity cards as Magellan does not guarantee compatibility although I did get one to work that was a micro SD card with the full SD adapter). You will need to put your mp3 music files from your PC onto the SD card just as you would your mp3 player; insert the SD card into an SD slot on your computer, laptop or USB adapter and copy the files to the card. After files are saved, put the card into the slot on the right side of the Maestro and then refer to the User Manual (http://www.magellangps.com/support/product.asp) page 64 to see how to play the music. You can play through radio speakers or by using headphones/ear buds with a USB connector.

Can SD Memory cards be used with my Go 720??

the "no SD required" is just letting you know that all of the important stuff to make the unit run is all on the hard drive of the unit itself. Yes you can use a SD card to hold maps, photos, or music. For instance if you were going to Europe, you will be able to get a European Map and download it onto the SD card. Another instance would be if you wanted to download some mp3 files.

Looooooong time to load and start playing MP3s

Hmmm, the Zumo doesn't have a harddrive, it's flash memory. The best place to store mp3's is on a fast SD card, and don't get the biggest size and cram it full, I had like 100 mp3's on a card adding up to almost 450 mins of music, started up without a problem. Not as fast but pretty snappy!

Mp3's won't play on my Nuvi 350. Do the SD cards need to be formatted? I'm running Vista home ed. Thanks, J

I recently added four songs to my sd card and put it back in the garmin gps. They would not show up in the list of songs. The little tab on the side of the sd card must be in the down position. That solved my problem.

How to access music from sd card

Hook the Nuvi up to your Computer via USB, then Sync one song from Windows Media player to the SD Card on the Nuvi (it will show up as "Nuvi Memory Card" in WMP) You only need to sync one song and it can already be on the card. This will create the link your Nuvi needs to see the Music. Once you disconnect all your SD music will be available.

Loading mp3 files to garmin nuvi 350

The device is not recognizing the file name. The Garmin GPS will only recognize MP3 files. Ipod (MP4) and other media files will not play. Converting the files to the MP3 format will correct the problem.
