Do you mean with the remote or without? If only the former, I'd suspect the remote.

If it happens with front-panel controls, too, what selections cause the failure and how are they connected?

If a specific source selection causes the problem, what happens if you disconnect the device on that input?

I cant keep my tv turned on after i pushed the rgb button by mistake it keeps on displaying no signal and then it goes off

Turn on the TV again. You need to change the input from RGB back to cable or HDMI or Component or whatever input you have a source for. If you don't know which one, look at the back of the TV and the wires you've got plugged into it.
If it's 1 round coaxial cable, change the input to Cable.
If it's three wires (red, white, and yellow) change the input to A/V.
If it's 5 multicolored wires, change the input to Component.
If it's an HDMI cable, change input to HDMI.
If you cannot change the input before the TV turns itself off, try unplugging the TV from the wall socket for about 10 seconds, and then plugging it back in. If its still on RGB, you're going to have to either find a way to get faster at switching inputs, or find an RGB cable and something to connect it to your TV. This is a last resort however.

TV does not turn on, it only makes a ticking noise.

Sometimes the input, or source has been changed without your knowledge. Try to change the input button either through the remote, or directly on the monitor. This should rotate you between the snow screen, cable and another input screen. One of them should be moer than just the black screen you see.

I can't work out how to change the default input Sony KV-24WX1U

Don't think it can be done, you'll have to change it manually or it should go to AV1 when you turn on the cable decoder.

Check if the remote is in TV position, that is, because most of the remote controllers have the feature that you can program them for use with another devices. Make shure that one button that says "TV" in pressed and released once before you try to change any function on the TV.

Mitsubishi WD 52525 & PS 3

First make sure your hdmi cable is connected from the PS3 to the TV. Then go to netcommand, review, and make sure "monlink" is checked, click next, and finish. Select "monlink" from your device manager and turn on your PS3. If the screen is blue, go to the next step. Connect the PS3 via regular a/v cables to the front panel "input-3". Create a net-command device for input-3 as well. Switch to the input-3 device you created and turn on your PS3. Choose display settings, and change the settings to HDMI. Then click change. You'll have 30 seconds to hit device manager, change the device to "monlink", and let the PS3 unit know the setting has worked. From there you can configure. Good luck!
