Some models have a door on the right side that you can remove, just has one screw, then you can get to the belt. Other models that don't have the belt door, take off the bottom plate, there are 5 screws to take out, then you can get to the belt as well as the brush roll and motor.

SOURCE: Oreck XL2200: It turns on, the motor is running,

Quite often this is caused by either a broken or stretched belt, does not seem to be the problem here, or a frozen beater brush, the brush the belt drives. Remove the beater brush and clean as best you can. Spray a little WD40 between the brush and the holders on each end. Twist them a bit to be sure they turn freely. Reassemble and make sure the belt is snug.

SOURCE: how do you replace the

Ok with the front of the vacuum facing you look on the left had side of the power head then follow these steps.
1.Remove the door by removing
the hold down screw located on
side of power head.
2.Slide the door forward by
prying open with a screwdriver
or coin.
3.Remove the belt from the brush
roll pulley and the motor drive
shaft.
4.Loop the new belt over the
motor drive shaft. Place the
opposite end of the belt on the
brush roll pulley.
5.Rotate the brush roll three (3)
complete revolutions to ensure
that no part of the belt is
overhanging the end of the
motor drive shaft.
6.Replace the door by sliding it
into the groove at the bottom of
the housing. Replace the hold
down screw.

What do i clean the burnt rubber on the shaft of my oreck with?

Use some fine grit sand paper, steel wool, or a wire brush. Turn the vacuum on without the belt installed and gently use one of the above on the shaft. If you have any other questions, just feel free to ask.

MY ORECK PUSHES SO HARD.

It be one of two problems or both.
1. You may need to change your belt. a belt change on an Oreck should be done about every 6 to 8 months.
2. A new roller brush. a roller brush acts like tires on your car. when the brushes wear out they have no traction and cant grab your carpet to pull the vacuum.

A combo of replacing both would more than likely be very helpful.

Oreck does not have good suction and leaves lint on rugs, and floor---any solutions?

If it has been longer than 6 months I woulf replace the belt. Wile doing that look to the rear of the vacuum and the side chute and make sure you do not have anything plugging those entrances.

Roller on upright vacuum is not spinning so vacuum is not picking up dirt

Hello,

Any time that a vacuum's roller brush stops spinning, this means that your belt has either stretched so much that it's fallen off of the motor, or that your belt has broken.

Here's a very helpful video on how you can replace the belt on your Oreck. This will give you step by step instructions on the belt change.

If you need to purchase a new belt, here's a direct link to a 3 pk. of belts that are used on your Oreck XL upright on our website:

Oreck Vacuum Cleaner problem (upright)

The best solution to any Oreck vacuum problem is to replace it with another brand. You are going to continue having problems with the Oreck..Not that other brands don't have problems. But, at least with
other brands the problems don't occur as often. Belt burning up. clogs, roller brush bristle wearing down prematurely, cord breaking internally, etc.
P.S. Oreck is good at one thing. Marketing!
