The DMS symbols are available under the ANGLE menu
Press [2nd][APPS] (ANGLE)
Under that menu you find the degree and minute symbol. To enter the seconds unit you use the key sequence [ALPHA][+] (")
To enter 1deg 15 minutes and 37 seconds
1 [2nd][APPS] [1:deg] 15[2nd][Apps][2:'] 37 [ALPHA] [+]

To enter a number in decimal degrees (eg 15.37)

  1. If angle unit is the degree just enter 15.37
  2. If angle unit is the radian , you must specify the angle unit as degrees: To enter 15.37 degrees you type 15.37 [2nd][Apps][1: degree] [ENTER].
To convert from DMS to DD and from DD to DMS, you use the sequence [2nd][Apps][4:|=>DMS].

    This key sequence
    1 [2nd][APPS] [1:deg] 15[2nd][Apps][2:'] 37 [ALPHA] [+]
    should read
    1 [2nd][APPS] [1:deg] 15[2nd][Apps][2:'] 37 [ALPHA] [+] [ENTER]

How to graph 5th degree polynomial TI 84

The TI-84 does not have a built-in quintic fit.

The most common scheme for fitting a model to data is the least squares. You'll find several programs to calculate this here.

I have a TI-84 calculator. I can't figure out the exact buttons to press to find the sec of -1.2. It is supposed to be an answer in degrees.

First, check if the calculator is in degrees. Do this by pressing mode and selecting degrees (it should be about the third option down)

The TI-84 doesn't have a dedicated button for secant so you will just have to enter it as 1/cos(-1.2) or cos(-1.2)^-1

Ti 84 mode a+bi you can not add 5 at 90 degrees to 5 at -90 degrees. You need to switch to exponential mode e^ and enter as 5 e^(pi/2i) this is ok for 180 degrees. however what do you do when...

You can add angle measures by hitting 2nd angle and choosing the degree option. Put this after a value (e.g. 90(degrees symbol)) and add you can add angles that way. Be sure that you are in degree mode when doing this (you can use the radian symbol for adding radians too). Still, this is a very tedious process and I recommend just adding angles as regular values (e.g. 90 + 200 = 290) and correcting for degrees manually.

I can't graph on my ti-84 plus silv. edition

More than likely, you've put in a number in the xmin or xmax that is not correct. Example....you put in an xmin of 10 and an xmax of -10 which would be backwards. This could also happen in the ymin or y max.

The easiest way to fix this is to press zoom 6 which wil get you back to the default graph of xmin of -10, xmax of 10 and ymin of -10 and y max of 10.

If you can't see your graph on this screen and need to change the window, just be sure the number in the min for both x & y is smaller than the number in the max. You change your window size by pressing the window button.
