Troubleshooting my Laptop "AVERATEC' 3200 series

what are the HDDs you have... type and size and speed is needed.
and if you can plug in one. then see if it boots, and works. then that one is proper, and you can test ea HDD and mark it will accept :
20gb, 30gb, 40gb, 60gb 80gb, 120gb,250gb - ATA 2,3,4,5 interface

most "mom and pop" computer stores will carry that ide hard drive. Its a 2.5 inch drive

Sound like the hard drive is toast
try safe made "F8" during start up.

this could be do to a bad connection to the boot device such as the harddrive.

I would try to boot from the cd rom using the OS disk.

Try to get in to the BIOS and ck the settings. Make sure the hard drive is all the way in it's bay. reboot and press Esc. or Del as it is booting, to try and access the bios. This is where all of the computer main settings are found, make sure your hard drive shows up here or it may be bad- Sorry.

Yes..most probably its HDD. Remove the hrddisk and try booting. If it displays, no HDD.then the prob lies with HDD.

this happened to me as well, had to get a normal windows xp cd and then install the default drivers (which i had to search for hours for). good luck!

Try having the problem devices turned on and plugged into the USB port(s) and then start or restart your PC.

This should cause Windows to recognize them and install drivers if available from its library.

It may also ask for an installation disk if it cannot identify the device.
