Question about Panasonic TH-42PX60U Television

1 Answer

Panasonic th42pxu color of images changes for hours from green to normal and back instantly.  Input can be either thru cable box or dvd. with same result   Each are connected to receiver by separate component connections. In turn receiver to wall mounted tv. previously, no picture from cable until cabinet which had been moved closer to wall had been moved away from wall. the green hue problem may have appeared for a few seconds after picture restored a month ago but is now for the past 2 weeks increased to the described half time green images . I don't know if I now have a tv, cable or receiver problem.

Red tint is now constantly gone. Using the tv remote and maximizing tint to red produces brown.
Component cable at receiver is tight, I can't access rear of wall mounted tv.
I can't remove from wall or take to repair shop.
Do you recommend trying tv repair or at least in shop examination of a 3 year old set with this problem or replacement?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. A plasma TV is a very hard working device. It is working harder than any TV that has been built before, and as a result it produces a lot of heat. 75% of technical problems in plasma TV's are caused by overheating problems. X, Y sustain, buffer boards controls picture, fires the gas, and many others functions. When either of these boards goes bad common problems include negative image, no image, vertical or horizontal stripes on picture, turns on and than turns off, and many more. You’ll need to open the back off the TV and check for any swollen/bulged/leaky capacitors on these boards and replace whichever has gone bad. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when switched off. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Yes right, you can call up local repair centers in your area and check with them, they might charge you a bit more for home visit however still you can get it done just to avoid future issues. I think the cost to get this set repaired will be around $200 depending on the parts that have gone bad. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

    Thanks

If you have a DVD player you can do a test to see if you have a bad tuner in the TV. Using Red, White, and Yellow cables hook up your DVD player to the corresponding jacks on the back of the DVD player and INPUT on the back of the TV with corresponding jacks as well. Turn on the DVD and TV and go to the TV menu and find the input that you have the red, white, and yellow jacks hooked to and see if you get a picture from your DVD player. If you do get a picture you probably have a bad tuner in your TV (if you are sure your cable signal is good). This setup bypasses the tuner. Let me know how it goes. And if you haven't done so be sure you have the right input for your cable signal correct in the menu as well.

Check the blue and green plugs on the component cable. Make sure the are pushed in all the way on the back of tv and device (cable box, dvd player, etc.)

Connect dvd recorder to cable box and hdtv

I have posted a tip that should help you out with your problem follow the link below but there is one minor variation for connecting to your TV.

On step 3 of the connections section substitute the follow for your situation.

You will need 1 component cable (Red/Blue/Green/Red/White cable)

3) Connect the Green/Blue/Red connectors to the back of the DVR labeled "COMPONENT OUT" matching the colors. Connect the same ends to the input of the back of the TV again matching the colors.

4) Connect the last two connectors (Red/White) to the back of the DVR to the AUDIO IN on the TV.

Other than this variation all shoud be the same.

Cant hook dvd/vcr to my cable box the manual says I need a extern

The cable box IS an external tuner.  You should connect the video output (either S video, HDMI, or component video) of the cable box to the video input of the DVD.  Then connect the audio output of the cable box to the audio input of the DVD via stereo RCA cables.  If your tv monitor has multiple inputs (ie: video 1, 2, and 3...) connect the video and audio output of the DVD to your tv monitor using an alternate video input (if cable box goes into your tv thru video 1, connect the DVD to video 2).  If your cable box only has one output, or your tv has only one input, then just connect your cable box to the DVD as above, and connect the DVD to your tv.

Connecting panasonic dvd to olevia tv

when connecting a dvd player you want to try using the yellow red and white cables.. ( AV CABLES) to the television.. just match the same color on the back of the television. Once that is done change the source on your remote until it displays composite then the image should be on.

if you will like a better image quality use the component cables (green, red and blue cables) but the dvd player has to have does colors as well or else it wont work.

CONNECTING THE PANASONIC SC HT680 TO A SONY TRINITRON COLOR TV AND CABLE BOX

audio/video OUT from the cable box to the aux IN on the panasonic right? So you can see the output from the cable box but only sound from dvd. Are you changing the input on the tv when you go from watching the cable box to watching the DVD? the panasonic handles audio, but the video from each goes to two different inputs on the sony. I hope none of this sounds condescending.

56 inch Panasonic Projection TV

Hello stonehor,
Do a quick check on your cable wire. Make sure they are all pushed in properly both on the cable box and on the TV connector. What we have found is that these cable are not pushed in all the way. If this happened on both component input, you may have an open connection further back on that input board.

Best regards
