Question about HP 1040 Plain Paper Inkjet Fax

1 Answer

HP fax/scanner/printer I used a 30V DC power supply for my HP fax/scanner/printer, then realised that the power supply should be around 18V DC. Since then, the fax and scanner add an orange background color to all documents. I guess, I must have damaged some electronic parts of the scanner/fax. I am an electronics engineer and would like to fix it by myself (if possible). Any help on which part I should check and may be replace? Thanks in advance Martin

Parts are probably not available except for modules.

I would say the scanner assy is toast.

How can I get a parts manual for Hp officejet 4500?

the challenge is that many of the parts are not available at all so a manual would likely be of no use. You can check a site like this Feedroller HP Feed Rollers Printer Parts HP Laserjet Feedrollers

but I do not think they have inkjet parts.

Trying to replace ink cartridges on my HP Officejet 6600 with replacement cartridges from LD Products. The printer keeps telling me it is defective. I've tried 3 different ones and none of them will

The printer is checking for a valid printer cartridge and apparently can't communicate with the LD products cartridges. I wouldn't recommend buying 3rd party ink at all actually, most just shortens the life of your printer and clogs things up. You should try eBay and find some HP cartridges for less in my opinion.

If it is connected to a surge protector, then i will suggest u to connect it directly to a wall outlet as some times it does not get enough power supply. Had a power surge and now machine will not power up.

You most likely blew out your power supply but may have damaged other components as well. The power supply converts the AC input to lower DC voltages used by integrated electronics. Even powered down the fax has a circuit that supplies voltage to the internal battery and volatile memory components, Called VSB for "standby voltage" even when it is officially "off", a surge can pass through the power supply and one fried move freely into the system to damage the internal components.
