There is a workaround. As you no doubt know, windows 7 doesn't install HP solution center. So, to get a scan from your printer, or to send a fax etc,. you need to go to start > All probrams > Windows Fax and Scan.
From this program you gain all the functionality of your printer/fax/scanner, however the scan buttons do not work on the printer.
Sorry, you must get up each time and press scan button!
...or you can tell the copier under user mode - machine sett. - that you want scan as first function. That the machine will allways on scaner function. But when you want to copy or fax you will need to get up and transfer to wanted function, but scaner will be allways on :-)
Install the Lexmark Software from the disk. For Lexmark, this has always been a requirement in order to get all of the necessary drivers, functions, and printer communication from a PC to the Printer. Here is the Link for the Driver and Software install if you don't have the CD: http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downloads/downloads.cgi
Depending on the Operating System you are using (Vista may still have another issue that I can walk ya through if it doesn't print) Vista may have a slight prob with printing, XP shouldn't. Let me know.
I sent a copy of this to your E-Mail as requested.
Hi, I assume you have Vista and when the scan button is pressed on the product, nothing happens. The scan button does not work correctly.
Workaround Choose one of the following options to scan without using the scan button.
Option one: Scan using Windows Fax and Scan
Click the Windows icon (), click Programs, and then click Windows Fax and Scan.
The Windows Fax and Scanoption is available in the Business, Ultimate, and Enterprise editionsof Windows Vista. If you have the Home Basic or Home Premium edition ofWindows Vista, skip to Option two: Scan using Paint.
Click New scan.
Click File, and then click Scan.
Option two: Scan using Paint
Click the Windows icon (), click Programs, and then click Accessories.
Click File, and then click From Scanner or Camera.
The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the product.
Press on duplex button and scan your originals one by one on the platen mode (exposure glass). You cannot use the ADF for this function.
After every scan press the Start button.
After the last page please press the enter button as displaying in the display.
Then the copier itself can finish making duplex copies as you wanted.
Good luck and please rate me, thanks.
