It is probably the inverter which powers the backlight. It should say inverter right on it.

Acer AL1711 17" LCD Monitor showing white screen

Hello,

A white screen indicates the power supply board is not putting out the correct voltages to properly power the monitor, just the back light. This type of issue is caused by a failure of the filter capacitors on the power board. You can rebuild your power supply board and bring the monitor back to life by just replacing the the bad capacitors. The problem is that model the Acer AL1711 could come with 1 of 4 different power supply boards install depending and the date manufacturer and supply on hand. If you want to repair the monitor if you could open the unit and get either the model number of the power supply board or send a picture of the board to me I will be glad to help you repair the unit and get it back up and running. You can contact me to send the information at tech@ccl-la.com

Hello,I am currently using a Viewsonic VX2235 monitor. When I turn on the PC the monitor stays black and it takes turning the monitor on and off several times to get it to work. Would greatly appreciate...

Hello,

The problem you are having is caused by a power supply board that is starting to fail. Parts called capacitors start to fail and the power supply does not start up as it should and requires power cycling to get it going. Most VX2235 units use the DAC-19M010 power board. Here is a link that shows how to repair the board by replacing the bad capacitors.

Suddenly my acer X223W lcd monitor goes blank and the light stays blue. I can barely see the images like in a 10% transparency filter. When I turn the lcd on everything is ok until the logon screen appears...

There is an "inverter" component inside the LCD monitor,
that creates all the "brightness" of the image.

That part is failing, and is becoming intermittent.
It's about a $20 part to replace, plus $50 for a qualified TV/computer technician to open the monitor, replace the part, and reassemble the monitor.

My Acer AL2017 "flashes" on then off when I hit the power on button. It does it repeatedly. If I cycle power enough times it will eventually remain on.

This is the same issue I had AND....you can fix this by replacing 5 capacitors in the screen Power Board, So here we go: go to Radio Shack or similar store that sells capacitors and buy (3) 220 Microfarad capacitors Radio Shack Part Number 272-1029 and (2) 1000 Microfarad capacitors PN 272-1032. Now on your board you will see the bulging capacitors just remove them and replace them with the new ones. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to the polarity, there is a negative stripe on the side of the capacitor. Make sure it goes back in the way the old one came out. Now the radio shack capacitors are 35vdc and the stock capacitors are 25vdc and the new capacitors are bigger in diameter but the difference is ok as long as the Microfarads are the same. Mine were replaced and all is well now

Blank screeen

Been there, done that. The power LED cycling indicates that the switchmode PSU is shutting down and trying to restart over. Standard symptom, let me guess the bulging cap is on the top row. Replace it with a same value/voltage (1000uF/10V from memory) low ESR 105C type and you'll be back in business.

Acer AL1912 -- missing capacitors & parts list

I don't normally respond to any questions on here anymore so forgive the delays in response.
The missing capacitiors are due to the board being made for a series of monitors using different power settings and having other things added to the mix like sound amplifiers etc (yes they live on the power board) so not all component holes will be filled unless the board is from a fully optioned model.

The fault you will be looking at can vary depending on the board manufacturer. If you can email a photo of both sides of the power board I will highlight the areas you will need to check.

Acer schematics / parts lists - my PCBs are missing capacitors!

It is common to have a lot of missing caps. in all types of boards
they may leave out a chip and not need them
or find that the put too much load on the wiring .
a cap is just a small battery and filter for a part of the circut that draws more than the wiring supports, and lets the chips do burst speed without waiting for the power to rise.
if you have a power on off cycle look for heat rise in transistors.
but usually its a cap overloading.
not easy to trace. also look for bulging caps on the top of them.

R1 will be blown, replace it with a 10 ohm resistor. Also replace C6 and C22 with 220uf 25v Capacitors.
