Why does my Garmin 2595LMT not say "recalculation" when I go off route? It just picks up the route I'm on, so I don't know if I''m lost or not!

This happens " recalculation " but there are no roads near to you that you can drive on. Most Sat Navs will bring up " recalculation " when you are stopped in traffic, trys to help but it's only acting on it's settings

I heard that the new iPhone 5 does not include the Google Maps application, but instead uses Apple's new version? Is this correct?

Yes it is. Apple decided to replace one of its most useful applications, Google Maps with its own version, Apple Maps. Compared to Google Maps, Apple maps display much less information like certain street names, street directions, and subway stops. Moreover, Apple Maps does not have the street view feature that Google Maps has. It should be noted that Apple Maps is a brand new application and will certainly change for the better in time.

After updating my garmin nuvi 205 it now directs me by saying "turn south or north" instead of "turn right or left", It also shows me off road and keeps recalculating. Do I need to...

It sounds like it is set for pedestrian use.
  • Press TOOLS
  • Press SETTINGS
  • Press SYSTEM
  • Press USAGE MODE
If it's not set to AUTOMOBILE then press AUTOMOBILE and it may solve your problem.

If that doesn't solve the problem it may be that the map is displayed as NORTH up rather than TRACK UP.
  • Press TOOLS
  • Press SETTINGS
  • Press MAP
  • Press MAP VIEW and select 3D
This may solve your problem.

The gps continously recalculates does not speak directions

i don't know if you know this, but all navi's must be update with the latest software, your system does come with an sd card, take that card an connect it to your computer, and go to pioneer website and download their newest update for your model.

While traveling to Nova Scotia last week, my Garmin Street Pilot c530 was telling that i was on an unpaved road, but i was on route 2 in New brunswick Canada

Don't believe everything you see on a GPS. Garmin does not update their maps as they should; I found this even after I purchased their map update. I drove 48 states in a big rig, over many new roads not found or shown on the Garmin maps. My streetpilot usually went into a hiccup mode, recalculating -- recalculating -- recalculating. All the while, it tried to get me to detour on whatever spurious local roads happened to show up along the way.

New garmin 260 gives directions and then when you follow them, it says... recalculating. Older model didn't do that. This one seems confused a lot.

Make sure you have the latest firmware and updated maps.

After installing WebUpdater once from the Garmin website, perform all future software updates from your computer. Simply connect your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start", "Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"
REMEMBER: It takes hours to do a complete a map update.
Unless you bought the Lifetime maps you may have to pay for current maps.

Does this help? Let us know. Thanks.

Maps Still Not Updated?

You are confusing map updates with POIs (Points of Interest). Garmin does not keep up with restaurant openings and closings, to the best of my knowledge. Updating your maps will give you the latest street information (such as new subdevelopments, one-way streets, newly opened bridges, etc.) but will not let you know that the KFC closed or that the Chalet de Alpina closed last year. Your POI information is current as of the initial programming of your unit. You can enter POIs manually, if you chose to do so, but they will only be good as long as you keep up with them.

Nuvi not working properly

I had the same problem until i realized it was I myself who messed things up. What you probably did was change the settings to "pedestrian" and forgot to change it back to driving. When you set your system to pedestrian, it does not recalculate a new driving route because it assumes you can just walk there. (You can walk in any direction very easily, so no need to recalculate).

If your garmin is also sending you down a one way street, thats another tip you are on the pedestrian setting. (If your walking, you can walk down one way streets).

I am not sure however, what other types of weird things happen when you are on the bicycle setting, i havn't tried it yet. But i am positive you are trying to use your garmin on pedestrian, put it back on automobile. Let me know if it works, thx
