Take your camera apart and find the ccd. it will be under the yellow wiring ribbon like in this picture http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Disassembling+Canon+Powershot+SD880+Flash/4647/1 remove the ir blocking filter, reassemble the camera check the focusing if no problems your ok, if you get problems then google how to remove ir coating from the glass filter you have just removed then replace it. I purchased a Canon SX130 IS and did exactly what i have described (no problems with focusing). I use a piece of floppy disk cut to the size of the lens and permanently taped on and i find it yields some awesome results. Google chdk and photoshop ir actions
Had the same problem when I deleted the photos on the computer. We have a MAC. I dragged all photos to the trash, so the DCIM folder was empty, but it still said Memory Full, even though there were "no files". Finally figured it out, had to plug the camera back in, and EMPTY my trash (permanently delete the items). Now it works again! Hope this works for you!
it may be possible to recover those images by using this free program
I have used it on a CF card with over 100 images - that suddenly did not appear - and I recovered 99 of them

Are you trying to load pictures onto the card using a computer? It doesn't work that way. Format the card in the camera and have fun with your new camera.
Most likely there is a problem with servo drive for the lens and camera functions. The fix is to replace the complete processor board including the servo drive electronics. After replacement the board must be tested and calibrated.
Call Sony to see if the camera is worth to have serviced.
