Look at the power supply first for bad caps with bulging top/seal, it can also be in the inverter circuits or lamps. Report back what you see inside first so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

I need to see the circuits bd. pictures, that will help a lot. There should be some kind of printings on the bd for make and model number of some kind, also look for 12v test point printing on the pwer supply section.

My grandfather has an HP W1907 desktop computer. He has been receiving a blue screen saying "Disk boot failure" "Insert system disk". Anything you can help me with?

Perhaps the machine has forgotten the bootup sequence and needs resetting. Go into your BIOS setup and reassert the hard disk as the first boot device. This also could mean that the Hard disk is bad or the operating system was not found.

The power button flashes between blue and yellow. The monitor screen stays black. I have the exact same monitor and switched it on to my other computer, and the computers are both working fine.

perrycdoq, Did you do flashlight test? Is your monitor also "blank"? Did you visit this old net blog? http:///www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution/ Do some reading there then come back and tell me if you think same thing might be wrong with your unit. Will you do the troubleshooting or contract out the work to qualified electronics technician to fix units "switch-mode-power-supply / inverter ballast circuit? 12fixlouie

My hp w1907 monitor has suddenly stopped working!!as soon as i turn on the tower it just displays"monitor is going to sleep"PLEASE HELP!!!

I love this one. I've actually done this many times before and have been successful.

1. Turn the computer off and unplug the power cord from the back of the tower.

2. Press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds while the computer is unplugged (this drains the remaining power from the capacitors on the motherboard).

3. Plug the computer back in and turn it on.

If that does not work, follow steps 1 and 2 again, but this time:

3. Open the computer while it is unplugged and unplug the power supply from the motherboard then hold down the power button again for 3 seconds. (You may also want to take the RAM out and put in back in)

4. Plug everything back in and turn the computer on.

More likely to have problem in the power supply, back light inverter circuits, or worst will be bad lamps. Look for bad caps with bulging top first, post back what you see so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors mostly due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

If it was working fine why install additional software? Try booting into safe mode and uninstalling the software or drivers.
