Question about Philips 42FD9954 42 in. Plasma HDTV

1 Answer

Vertical Lines Have good color and sound, but have very light blue and red vertical lines in the picture. They are evenly spaced across the screen. Like it needs a convergence adjustment, but the color is okay.

Hello, It is the vertical lines , not blue speckles. I cannot find the grey screw (adjust pot ? ) on the small (4x6) vertical board on the left side . Is it on the PDP board ? I have the service manuel on CD. Thanks

Found the problem with the vertical lines to be on the board below the "SCAVIO" board. Replaced it with a good board from another set and all is okay. I believe this board interfaces with both PDP boards.

Being a plasma tv is not a convergence adjustment that you need. Vertical lines are usually a panel fault which isnt cheap to fix. If instead you have blue speckles, they are fixable just a voltage adjustment. If you feel confident enough you could try this yourself. what you would have to do is take off the back panel if you have a stand put it back on that. easier to work on. then plug it. BE CAREFUL not to touch anything inside!!! from the back you will see a board on the left side on that board will be a small board attached vertically it will have a gray screw attached(very small). with the tv on you adj. the screw until the blue goes away(a little does alot). In any case, before doing all this you should check all contacts inside your tv, by disassembling and testing them.

    Hope it had been helpful.

    regards

I have evenly spaced, rows of two vertical green and red lines from top to bottom of my vizio plasma P50HDTV10A

Somehow when switching between the tv and the dvd my wife encountered the pink and green, thin, parallel, vertical lines on the screen. The picture was visible with the lines. I turned the tv off and on but the problem persisted. Unplugged tv for about two minutes and after plugging it back in and turning it on the vertical lines very gone and the picture was back to normal.

Sony KF50WE610 Vertical Blue Lines Across Screen

the vertical blue lines indicate some interference from other electronic gadgets near your tv. it started showing up on my sony grand wega when i installed my wireless modem. i almost ordered a new rear projection lamp costing over $100 but decided to experiment. i first moved my desk computer farther away from the tv then isolated the wireless modem router by placing it inside a small glass - the vertical blue lines became lighter in color so i dedided to find another small glass that fit inside the first glass container then put the router in the double glass - no more blue lines and my wireless modem router still works.
do some deductive thinking to figure out what's messing up your tv and isolate the interference.
good luck!
