If the header you used is correct, this is how you would remove the agitator for a Whirlpool:

1. Remove softener dispenser (if equipped with one on the agitator) or the center cap.
2. Under the center cap should either be a bolt or a recessed square socket. Loosen the bolt with either a 7/16" or 1/2" socket. If you have the square socket, use a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter.
3. Once the bolt is removed, remove the upper agitator auger making sure you keep all the small components together.
4. Grasp the agitator flanges near the bottom where it meets the wash tub and pull straight up. The entire agitator should lift out.

I hope this is the answer you were looking for. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Washer keeps spinning. doesn't move to next cycle

Hi,
It sounds like the agitator , air bell or transmission is failing. Since the unit spins the belt & motor is ok. I recommend removing & inspecting the agitator & air bell. If they are not stripped out then you have a transmission failure.
Or, start the washer at the beginning of a cycle set to the lowest water level. After the unit fills it should be agitating stop the washer. Open the lid & try moving the agitator, if the agitator will not move it is good & no need to remove for inspection. You have a bad transmission. If the agitator moves easily then we know that the agitator or air bell is stripped out & will need to be inspected for confirmation before replacing.

Hope this helps.

The stackable washer will not agitate

Give me a model number. Fridgedare and White westinghouse made some of these stacks for Kenmore. I'll need to know the manufacture. Reply with the whole model number and I'll help.

Kenmore Series 80 Washer, Model 20852 - Agitator not turning well, making noise

Hi, If the washer spins properly but the agitator does not work, it could be the dog kit needs replaced. If the washer does not agitate or spin, it is probably the coupler.
Put the washer in wash cycle with no laundry in it and see if the lower prt of the agitator moves. If the agitator moves, try and hold the upper half of the agitator and see if it will only move one direction. The agitaor dog kit is designed to only let the top part of the agiator to grab one way. When they go bad, they can make some noise.
To replace the dog kit in the agitator, remove the top cap/rinse dispenser and the inner bolt cover. Remove the 7/16” bolt and lift the agitator out of the washer. Separate the 2 halfs of the agitator and replace the dog kit inside the upper part of the agitator.
Please let me know if this helps you or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Whirlpool top loader washer not agitating

Hi, Do you know if the lower half of the agitator is working? THere is a dog kit that might need replaced in the agitator to get the top half to work. If neither half agitates, there is probably a transmission issue. Start the washer with no laundry in it and see if either sections of the agitator work.
I hope this helps you.

Kenmore Dryer 70 series washer agitator sounds like its skipping

Remove the center cap, or fabric softener dispenser (if installed) from the agitator center post. There should be another cap (used as an air gap) under the center post cap. Remove the cap and locate the agitator bolt. Using a socket and ratchet, hold the agitator still with one hand and loosen with other. The upper portion (called the auger) should lift off, first. Then, grasp the agitator by the flanges at the bottom of the wash tub and lift straight up. This will reveal the gearcase (transmission) shaft.

Now...is the entire agitator slipping? Or, is it just the auger? If the auger is slipping, you may just need to replace the agitator dogs. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r823955-replacing_agitator_dogs

Read through the link provided and let me know if you still need assistance. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: If the dogs are worn and need replaced, you only need to remove the auger and not the entire agitator.

Washer leaving alot of lint on clothes

THE ONLY FILTERS YOUR WASHER HAS ARE LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE AGITATOR. REMOVE THE AGITATOR CAP AND TAKE OUT THE 7/16 BOLT DOWN IN THERE AND PULL THE WHOLE AGITATOR OUT. IN THE TUB YOU'LL SEE FOUR FILTERS AROUND THE AGITATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY THOSE ARE THE ONLY FILTERS YOUR WASHER HAS. OTHER THAN THAT IT IS NOT THE WASHER CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. WHEN YOU WASH CLOTHES IF YOU CANNOT SEE THEM GOING DOWN IN THE TUB BY THE AGITATOR AND OTHERS COMING BACK UP ALONG THE OUTTER EDGE THEN YOU ARE OVERLOADING THE WASHER. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

Agitator not working properly

This is a fairly simple process. Just follow these steps:

1. Remove dispenser cap by pulling off.
2. Under the dispenser cap is another plastic cap with a washer. Pull this out to expose the agitator bolt underneath.
3. Using a socket and rachet (easiest method) remove agitator bolt and remove entire agitator by pulling from the bottom flanges and lifting straight up.

If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in your model number, there's an excellent drawing of your agitator and components under the "Agitator, Basket and Tub" heading. Use this as a reference for reinstalling any parts.

I hope this helps you. If you still require assistance, please let me know.

Washer will not agitate

A wears out clutch might prevent the washer from agitating well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. Good luck!
