Remove the batteries if you haven't already done so. Let it air dry thoroughly.

Once dry, put the batteries back in and try to turn it on. If it does, fine.

If it doesn't, then try a hard reset. Press and hold down the 2ND, left-arrow, and right-arrow keys, then press and release the ON key.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Electronic devices do not like water.
Most important: remove batteries quickly to avoid electrochemical reactions. Corrosion may kill your device permanently.

If you know how to disassemble your device (and put it together again later), do so. Rinse everything with distilled / deionized water. Dirt, salt, sugar, organic residue from coffee or cola all may be harmful. Since it was a rainstorm only, this may not be so serious, but rain water is not exactly clean, too. Do not alcohol or other solvents.

Gently towel away all water using soft tissue. Cotton wool tips as used for cosmetic also may prove helpful. Let the parts dry in a dust free environment for one or two days. A blow dryer can speed up the process but be careful with the temperature setting. Neither glass nor plastic like to get hot.

Re-assemble the calculator and put back the batteries (you also wiped and dried them, yes?). If you're really lucky, the calc works again.

If you do not dare to disassemble the device, keep it in a dry and warm (not hot!) place for a week before putting in the batteries again and hope for the best.

Ti 84 water damage

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

My TI-89 Titanium isn't turning on. I took it out of my backpack today and it wouldn't respond at all.

Try a hard reset, if you're willing to lose the contents of all RAM.

Press and hold the 2ND, Left-arrow, and Right-arrow keys.
Press and release the ON key.

My TI-84 Plus Silver Edition stopped working

That actually is a result of water damage. You probably need to replace it, or see about getting it taken apart and dried if the water damage was recent. DO NOT take it apart yourself. Go somewhere and ask if that is possible.

Check all battery terminals and 12v power feed connections are clean and tight.
Check all battery chassis and ground connections are also firm and in good order.
Check any in line 'Maxi' fuse connections are firm.
Check for water ingress in any cable loom or bulkhead connector exposed to the water spray.

Well i suggest calling Texas Instruments
The chances of this happening are rare, but the back up
battery probably died. This could probably cause data loss
and you might lose the program and function data. Call and ask
to see what you could do.

Dropped the calculator!

If it is under warranty, thats great. Understand that the typical service tech could charge $40-$100/hr. There is some internal damage that needs a tech to see or fix. If you can find a cheap tech in your area, get it looked at, otherwise at a price of around $100, you could get a new one. Good luck.
