The platen (black roller) probably isn't fully seated, press down firmly on both ends of the platen. If it comes up again the latches are broken and you'll need a platen.

Yes It worked! I took my platen (black roller) and took up both ends off (but one at a time) and gently lifted up (not too high) to re-seat the platen back onto their holders (which in my Wheelwriter 15 was two clips on top also which pushed down to re-seat the platen's ends back so that it was seated correctly. It was not broken but probably because I have moved it several times -- it probably shifted out of its position. Once it was re-seated, it now types the complete letter both top and bottom halfs -- thank you so much for saving me money to take it to the repair shop which would probably charged me an arm and a leg! So simple, yet who would ever have known :)

Did you remember to change the paper type in the printer settings to legal, before printing? If not it will use the default, usually letter size.

Printer cutting off words

Is this happening with every program you use to print? If it's just a single program, try changing the line spacing. It sounds as if you've got the line spacing too small for the current font and it's cutting off the bottoms in order to print the next line.

On some lines the letters are cut in half and not lined up

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

Cant print page numbers or footer, they are cut in half

depending on your physical location you may need to change the default paper type for your printer..

American default is Letter, where as Australia is A4, these paper sizes are only slightly different.

I'd be checking your margins also in your document.... Are the numbers cut off when you do a print preview?

Wong letters & numbers

I downloaded the manual from http://www.devicemanuals.com/downloadguide.php and then, following the instructions there, I removed then re-inserted the daisy wheel. This solved my problem. Perhaps it had somehow gotten out of adjustment. At least, it is something to try if you haven't tried it already.

Only typing half letters and numbers

On the WheelWriter series, sometimes the platen may pop out of position, causing only half the letters to print. If this is the case, easially solved... Using the left and right platen knobs, firmly push down to lock it back in place. Hope this helps....MediaMan
