Question about Crane Cow Humidifier
Old question but just in case someone goes to looking for an answer:
A good procedure for any ultrasonic humidifier is to switch the unit OFF and unplug it. Empty the water out. Rinse the reservoir and places where water comes in contact with hot/clean water. Do not submerge the base of the unit or anything containing electrical components! Visually inspect for dirt or mineral build up in the reservoir or where watcer comes in contact. If the water your using in the unit is soft water then de-calcifying the unit every 4 weeks is suggested. If hard water is used the unit should be decalcified every 2 weeks. You can use CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) solution or EZ Cal.

I also need some information on cleaning, specifically the base. Not sure if I should use soap or if that will affect the nebulizer?
For cleaning the reservoir, just add a capfull of bleach to some water, and swish it around intermittently for about 20 minutes -- rinse until you don't smell bleach anymore.
