Problem same as Pauls, tried calling Lexmark, they are no help, they only say that you need to buy new cartridges from them to solve the problem.

Most likely the cartridge is no longer usable. The ports will eventually become to clogged or the fiber inside the cartridge will not permit the ink to make it to the port and not read as a full cartridge.

Printer does not recognize carts

I have refilled my cartridges many, many times. A messy job, but well worth the savings. Never over fill, handle carefully.
The printer will give an error message, but just press cancel, do not order a new cartridge, Your refilled cartridge will work on the lexmark x5470. Good luck.

Refilling the Lexmark x5470 color ink cartridge: Can't

There should be a dialogue box that pops up on your computer when the cartridge is low telling you to order new ones. Usually there is a box you can check to tell it to ignore that the cartridge is low. If you don't get the dialogue box, somewhere in your printing preferences you should be able to tell it to "ignore ink levels." There does not exist a cartridge that "does not contain this circuitry." There are no compatibles of these cartridges and all refills are of original manufacturer cartridges.

I refilled a 33 colour cartridge still says low

I would like to inform you that Lexmark printers does not support refilled cartridges. Please note that #33 cartridge is know as a rushmore cartridge and in this cartridge it has memory chip on it to identifiy the ink estimation. hence it is not possible to change the low ink indication.

Please note: using refilled cartridge may void ur printer warranty.

My lexmark will not work with refilled ink cartridges.

Lexmark is one of the best printers, Look to see if the heads on the printer are clean. Unlike most printers Lexmark cartridges dont do the controling, the printer does. My son replaces the cartridges, he doesn't refill because of the problem simular to yours.

Compatable black ink cartridge

Is the print out normal? If the print out is normal you just need to reset the software to know that you have a new cartridge.

If you open the printer cover, remove and then reinsert the cartridge you should have a message on your display asking you to align the cartridge. When you do this it will reset your ink levels.

If you are using a brand new Lexmark cartridge this should work find. If you are using a refilled cartridge then you will still see the cartridge as they are not supported on Lexmark products.

Thanks
Catherine

X5470 Lexmark printer

Lexmark and Dell use a sensor in the cartridge to sense a low ink level. Once the sensor has been activated, you cannot reset it. The printer should work fine except for the fact that you'll have to override the "low ink" message on your computer.

Manufacurers don't make money on printer hardware. All the money is made from ink replacement, so they make it as difficult as possible to use anything other than the stuff you buy from them. Some (HP) put in chips for an "expiration" of the ink/toner. Go beyond the expiration date, the thing won't work.
