Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Assuming that it is a Projection TV from what you have described it seems that you have to replace the convergence IC and check power resistor for leakage, if values are not exact you have to replace them. The typical cost to get this fixed by a pro is about $300 - and it doesn't mean that he/they will do a job better than you do. The parts are less than $100 (about $20-$30 for the IC's) if you want to do it yourself. Replacing only the IC's MAY solve the problem; however, many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Why would you ask should you replace both of the IC's if only one is shot?! If one is shot the other one is not far away and for that little price of the chips it worth changing them both at the same time. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Pioneer bdp 51fd picture color is green

check screen options. sometimes you can change the primary color's intensities(it looks stupid at 100% for all). You might have red a little low making yellow and blue show up greenish on the screen.

Picture is greenish hue and cannot be changed from menu bar

The greenish hue cannot be adjusted from the menu. One has to do it from inside.First confirm by turning the color settings to zero using the remote. You should get a clean black and white image with no traces of any color ( inc: green ). If your TV is greenish , the green drive on the base of the picture tube has to be trimmed.
All you need is a screwdriver. There are dangerous voltages inside a TV, some as high as 27,000 volts !!!. Where the color adjustment has to be done there are voltages as high as 110 volts and 8000 volts. If you still want to make the adjustments yourself revert back for instructions

Color adjust

Greetings!

Adjusting the picture tubes is a scary proposition, but since you have already done it...
The easiest way to balance the gray scale is to turn the color all the way down on the set. The next part is easier with two people if the screen controls are on the back of the set. This is the part you saw that has six small knobs on it. There are control for the focus of the red, gree and blue and for the screen level of the red, green and blue. You will want to adjust the screen controls in an effort to get the picture black and white (this is why you turn the color down), hence the term "gray scale". Just make slight adjustments, take your and be patient. It will take some time, but you will get your picture balanced back out in time.

Hope this helps!

Aadjusting screen colors

They should be adjusted to set voltages. however it is best to shut the color level to the lowest setting then try t balance the screens to achieve the best black and white picture. then turn up your color level. Your brightness level should also be set to 50 % then when you adjust for the best B&W picture. You will have better color and brightness when you reset your color and brightness levels. Hope this helps.
