"scrambles"? Has the Laptop been cleaned? Fan and vents? Overheating? You may have to open the unit to clean, also replace the CPU and GPU Thermal Paste, if the Graphics Adapter hasen't been damaged by overheating that may help. It may be Done. Try booting to Safe Mode with Networking, that will apply the generic driver. Perhaps the driver is incorrect or corrupt. post results. Many of the old games use graphic textures that are not to the power of 2. This will result in missing textures, scrambled textures, black screens and more.

Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about this aside from making yourself an old pc or resurrecting an old one just to play them.

another suggestion is to drop the resolution down to 800x600 or 1024x768 and test there to see if this solves the issue.

As graphic cards advance they don't always hold a backwards compatibility. Its just what happens.

Scrambled picture and freezing

This is most likely because the GPU which deals with all the graphics on your system overheating, to fix it you need to stop the heat build up.

You can either do this yourself or send it in and get it fixed.

Xbox plays sound but no picture, changed cords and televisions, still no luck

There might be a problem with the GPU (Graphic Processing Unit). At this point you'll either have to replace the unit or try to induce RROD if it's still under warranty for 3 yrs from Microsoft.

Cannot play FIFA09

Uh oh. It looks like you're out of luck.

FIFA 09 PC Requirement (minimum):
Graphics: 6600 Nvidia graphics card or ATI equivalent with support for Pixel Shader 3
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c"

Nvidia 6600 came out at 2004 and it supports DirectX 9.0C (Shader 3 came with 9.0C)
ATI Radeon 9200 came out at 2003 and only support DirectX 8.1 (which support shader 1.2 - 1.4)

Nope, Radeon 9200 will not support Shader 3 (neither will it support 2.0).

Time for a new video card maybe?

I hope this answers your question.

Graphics card power

I suggest you change your PSU if you want to play hi end games and do more graphic stuff. This PSU will work only if you use your computer for low graphic things like busines software Office and internet, if you use CAD you better change it or it will cost you more money.

It would be more helpful to tell us what computer do you have, and what card did you install.

The laser is failing. It's called "digital drop-out". A replacement laser runs around $60, but you're better off just replacing the unit.

TV scrambles

Sounds like from what your describing, a horizontal sync problem and there are a few capacitors in this model that does cause that. If your not a tech this is something you should mess with as the way to trouble shoot this problem would be by using a scjhemetic, a isolation transformer and an ocilliscope. its a possiblity that you could also have a tune rproblem thats giving the sync separator circuit a weak sync pulse from the video its putting out. Good Luck
