Question about Gateway MT3705 Notebook

1 Answer

I have an Acer laptop with Win 7. I want to restore it to factory defalt settings. I did this once with my Gateway by holding down the shift key while tapping one of the F keys, I believe it was F8 or F9, during system boot. Can I restore my Acer laptop in similar fashion? If this is possible, which F key would I use?

No where does it say Acer Factory Settings in the programs menu. I looked everywhere for this. I Opened every ACER file on the hard drive and no where is there an option for this. Thank you. Any other suggestions. Will the F key process stated in my initial question work?

    Netbook reset

    Hello,

Here is how to restore any Acer or Gateway machine to factory settings:

When you power the netbook on, as soon as you see the Acer logo, hold the Alt key down and start tapping the F10 key repeatedly (takes about 10 seconds to trigger the restore process. It may take a few tries to get the timing right but I promise you this is the way.

The hard drive on your netbook has a hidden restore partition which contains the necessary files to do the factory restore. It is possible that this partition was erased when Ubuntu was installed. If you can't get the Alt+F10 to work, then you will have to contact Acer to get a recovery USB drive.

    Hope this helps!

Click "Yes" in the "Confirm Restoration" dialog box, then click "Yes". Click "OK" in the dialog box warning you that all of the personal data on your computer will be deleted. Your computer will automatically restart. When your computer restarts the restoration process will begin. The process could take anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes. Click "OK" when a dialog appears telling you that the computer has been restored to its original factory settings and that you need to reboot your Gateway Windows 7 computer. Your computer will reboot. After the computer restarts you will need to configure Windows 7 with your personal preferences. b> Recover at Startup Turn on or restart your computer and hold down "Alt" while clicking "F10" during startup until you are redirected to the Gateway Recovery Management program. Howw do you reset user passwords on Acer Aspire one w/ windows 7 home basis

You would have to perform a factory restore. Turn off the computer, then turn the computer back on, but as soon as you push the power button to turn it on, immediately hold down the ALT key and tap on the F10 key about 2 times per second. Once a menu comes up, you can stop with the ALT and F10, and select the option that looks most like factory restore, and then follow the on-screen instructions to perform the factory restore.

How to reboot my gateway nv53 laptop to factory without a cd bought this laptop used starting to have problems so i want to erase everything and make it like new

    Hi.

The laptop may have a hidden recovery partion which you can access from boot up. Turn the laptop off and then restart it. When you see the Gateway logo hold down Alt and repeatedly press the F10 key. From there follow the on-screen instructions to restore the laptop to factory defaults, it should take about half an hour but could be longer.

Remember to back up any data that you want before you restore the system.

If you can't access the recovery partition then you can use Windows to do it for you. Click on the Start Menu> All Programs>Gateway and then Gateway Recovery Management. In the Gateway Recovery window click on Restore and then select Restore System to factory default and follow the on-screen instruction. The computer will restart and proceed with the restore.

    Regards.

At the risk of losing your data (suggest you back this up 1st), you can

Switch on the computer and when it loads to the Acer screen hold down the ALT key and F10 key at the same time, this will start the recovery. Then click on RESTORE FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS and press ok. This should restore the laptop to factory orginal settings in about 10-15 minutes

Each computer manufacturer has a special key you have to hit WHEN YOU POWER ON the computer Here are some of the keys,
HP and Compaq desktops/towers use F10,
E Machines and Gateway PC use F11,
    Toshiba laptop F12,
    Sony PC F10 .
    IBM and Lenovo F11
Here is the trick- power the computer off, and then power it back on and start tapping the appropriate key eg F10 until a screen pops up saying "DO YOU WANT TO DO A SYSTEM RESTORE" Once this system restore window opens, stop tapping and just follow the instructions. Some of the older computers may ask you for the restore discs so have those ready. Most newer computers do not need restore discs. The whole system restore could take 2 or 3 hours. When done, reboot your computer and it should be all new and speedy again.

HOPE, THIS WILL HELP YOU !!!!
