You need to go to your audio conotrol software and set up your sound card for digital output, and or connect with the digital cable, it appears you have either connected them with a stereo (2 channel) cable, Or have correctly connected, but not told your interface that you have a digital conneted speaker system. To find it in your computer, try Start --> Programs --> Accesories --> Entertainment --> Volume control, and click on advanced to access the speaker setup

I purchased a new desktop PC with Windows 7, & I'm trying to find out what the correct connection is for the Logitech X-530 Speakers is. That is, can I get all the 5 speakers to work at the same time?

It depends on the sound-card in the PC.

The "back-left" and "back-right" speakers require special connections to the sound-card.
The "left" and "right" and "centre" speakers are connected to the "main-stereo-audio-out" on the sound-card, as per normal.

The speakers wil not play on the background and the center.

If you connected to a 5.1 surround card and checked and they are connected ok you can hear all the speakers when you play music, movies that are in 5.1 format only. If you want to hear also all of them if you listen to stereo movies/music you must set the sound card to emulate multi channel. Also the player you use to listen music/wath movies must be set to 5.1 and must accept Dolby Digital/ DTS decoding if your sound card doesn't(eg. VLC media player-has integrated DD and DTS decoding and codecs for all tipes/formats).

There should be a setting in your sound card, assuming it is a 5.1 surround card, that allows the card to split the signal from two input connections (normally the normal speaker input'green' and the mic input'pink')into the required 5.1 output.
