Kenmore elite electric dryer runs but then gets hot and then shuts off, replaced thermal fuse, dryer vent and tubing not plugged, dryer runs gets hot blows thermal fuse again.

DRYER OVERHEATING:

Heating Element
A defective heating element can make a dryer too hot. If the element partially shorts out, it can produce heat all the time, regardless of whether the dryer is calling for heat. Remove the heating element to inspect it. The coils should not be touching each other or anything else.

Other Causes and Conditions
Air Flow Problem
Dryers need good ventilation to work properly. If the vent is clogged it can make the dryer too hot. Clean all of the vent tubing thoroughly.

Cycling Thermostat
Although not common, a defective cycling thermostat can make the dryer too hot. The cycling thermostat is supposed to turn on and off the heat to maintain the proper temperature. If the thermostat is defective it may keep the heat on too long. The thermostat is not adjustable or repairable, it must be replaced.

Felt Seal
Most dryers have a felt seal at the front and rear of the drum to keep the heat inside the drum. If the felt seal is worn away or missing, the dryer may keep heating and make the dryer too hot. This is not common.

Blower Wheel
A defective blower wheel will not spin properly and will not vent the hot air, making the dryer too hot. Check to see if there is adequate airflow out of the dryer.

I would change the control thermostat. It is mounted next to the skinny white fuse on the filter housing under the dust cover on the back side.

Dryer not drying clothes

Hello, does the dryer drum turn? If the dryer drum is moving. Is the dryer blowing hot air, cold air, no air at all? Now, if it's doing everything mention above escept blowing hot air then you'll need a new heating element. If not blow air, then the drum belt is broken, belt off, or the drum motor has gone south. It was put for a quitt. Which mean in New Mexico, they fired me, I don't work, no job, finished, I'am out of here, don't bury me with my wires exposed. I hope I was some help to you. have a nice day and be safe, GB. stewbison

My dryer stopped drying our clothes in the past. I replaced the fuse and problems solved. Now same problem replaced the fuse and it heats up then goes out. I cleaned out the hose and dryer everything...

Is it blowing hot air out the vent?. I've seen something like pencils , lint or about anything clog the fan and won't let it turn. The vent must be clean going to the outside of the house. You can take the vent tube off at the dryer and see if it helps if it does out side vent might be cloged.
The operating thermostat might not be cutting off power to heating coil soon enough and getting hot enough to blow fuse. Check all thermostats and any one time cutoffs a one time fuse. Don't know what type dryer or model number you have. When you ask for help always give the name and model or your machine because they are different.Hope this helps.

Dryer not blowing hot air

When you say 220 gas dryer I'm not sure what you mean. If it's 220V then it should be an electric dryer, not a gas dryer. Troubleshooting is totally different between gas and electric. If it's electric (large 30A 220V plug) then good chance heating element(s) have gone bad. You can look up parts on www.searspartsdirect.com Have your complete model number. IF it's gas, it may be the pilot ignition has failed
