The sat light button won't light up all the others do ( tv vcr aux ) how do i get that one back so i can control the sat

My remote is doing the exact same thing. All buttons (TV, VCR, and AUX) will light up. However, the SAT does not. This is a HUGE problem because it's for a dual tuner receiver and the remote is for the second TV. I have a universal that will work the #1 TV, but won't on the second. Now, we can't watch TV downstairs because the remote won't turn the satellite on!

I had the same problem. Here is a temp fix. The remote consists of three pieces: The top, the bottom (holds the circuit board and batteries), and the flexible rubbery button piece.

Pry apart the remote with a butter knife and remove the rubbery piece and hold it in your hand. Look at the four top buttons: SAT - TV - VCR - AUX. Flip the rubbery piece over and you will notice two little black dots on the back of those four buttons. The problem you are having is that the dots aren't conducting anymore for the SAT button. Now get the bottom piece and look at the circuit board to see where the black dots for the SAT button line up. Then simply position the two black dots from the TV or AUX buttons over the SAT circuit board location until the LED for the SAT lights up. Click the remote back together, paying attention to lining up the rubbery piece. (The tabs go in the slots).

Now the remote should be in SAT mode. Until somebody pushes AUX again on the remote, that is.

Had the same problem, followed the manual, didn't work. Then I did the opposite.
The UHF Pro remote will not work if the channel that the remote is on changes.
To reset, through the fron panel on the receiver access the system info under setup.
This will give you the remote's channel.
Press and hold the SAT butting till all four lights then enter the same number as the channel it showed.
Press pound sign, then record, then select.
Should work then.

Just fix mine Same problem as above. Took apart remote and cleaned the circuit board with an eraser where the buttons make contact. You can also clean the buttons with a alcohol swab or a pencil eraser. Not to hard, don't want to wear them off.

I realize this sounds elementary, replace the batteries in the remote. I felt I had these same problems with my 6.3 IR/UHF DISH Remote for TV 2 on the UHF side of things and thought I'd tried everything. Guess I missed the most basic. A good sign that the batteries are the problem IMO would be that the SAT light when you press the button isn't brightly lit. Mine would light up but was dim. Good luck.

My problem is similar except, the LED comes on, I just can't control the sat. however, I can control everything else. All of the buttons light up though so, I don't understand why I can not power on or off the sat or DVR nor change the channel. It makes no sense to me.

Auto program dish remote 21.0 IR/UHF Pro to Epic Sound Receiver

DD Cox,

I can definitely provide more information. Without knowing the model of the sound system, I am unable to provide specific codes. Below I will include a link to lookup codes, as well as the steps to address the remote.

Link: http://www.mydish.com/support/apps/remotecodes.aspx

Addressing Remote to DVD:

1.) Press and hold the clear AUX button until all mode lights light up.
2.) Release and AUX light will be blinking.
3.) Press 2 and enter the code. (Example: If the code is 639, enter 2639)
4.) Press pound (#)
5.) Try functions (Power, Volume, etc..) and see if it is working.
6.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.

Sanyo TV Code for Dish remote 21.0 IR/UHF PRO only operates TV Power and Volume Functions.

Hello Witt Thomas,

I can understand the concern and wanting the remote to work the TV Menus. It is possible with our remotes, however it depends on the TV itself. I've seen instances where there are 2 TV's in one house, and 1 will do it, while the other won't.

If you have tried all of the remote codes, and none work, the only other options we have available are to try a powr scan, or teach the remote. This link http://www.mydish.com/support/teach-learning-remote-20-21 can provide the steps on how to teach that model of remote control!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

jerry3736,

I'm sorry you are having a problem with your 6.3 remote. You may need to readdress the remote to your receiver. If you have a duo (2 TV receiver) follow the instructions below.
  • Remote:
    1. Go to System Info screen (Go to your TV 1 location and with the TV 1 remote, press the MENU button twice)
    2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.(6.3 remote)
    3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
    4. Press the pound (#) button
    5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.
If this doesn't fix your problem, you may need a new remote. If you have any other questions, please respond to this site.

Remote control interferes with second TV

si24

It is possible that the 2 remotes are on the same remote address. This generally is not possible if one remote is IR and the other is UHF but with some receivers you can have an UHF remote for you TV 1. To resolve this issue you would need to readdress on of the remotes to a different remote address. I have provided instructions on how to readdress the remote. I hope this helps.

  • Remote: All Other Remotes
    1. Go to System Info screen
    2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
    3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
    4. Press the pound (#) button
    5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

Device code

You can power scan for the code.
Turn ON the electronic device you want to program the remote to control.
Press the Mode button( sat,tv,dvd, aux) on the remote until the appropriate mode light is flashing.

Press the Power button. The mode light will stop flashing and stay lit.
Press the Up or Down arrow button to set the remote to the next code. The Down arrow button scans backward and the Up arrow button scans forward.
When the correct code is reached, the device (whether a TV, VCR, or other) will turn off.

Press the pound key button to store the code in the remote control memory. If the code is valid for your remote, the mode light will blink 3 times.
Turn the device back ON by pressing the Power button.
Press sat mode key once you power back on the tv to be able to operate the receiver box.
Try some other functions to make sure you have the correct code. Occasionally the Power button may work when others do not.
If the other buttons work you are finished.

.
If the other buttons do not work, repeat the previous steps. The scan will resume from the last code stored.
The mode light will flash rapidly when the scan has returned to the starting point and all codes have been tested for that mode. The remote control may not control some device models.

My dish network remote stop working

It sounds as though you might have just accidentally pressed a button and changed the remote into an incorrect mode for example, tv, or aux mode. This would in fact prevent the remote from successfully working with the DISH Network receiver. If this is the problem, then the remote simply needs to be put into "SAT" mode, once its back in SAT mode you will then be able to change channels, select menu, power receiver on and off, etc. The "SAT" button is labeled & in the upper left hand corner of the remote to put the remote back in satellite mode, please just press that SAT once and then release, the SAT button should briefly light up red & then the light will go out, you should then be able to use the remote again, to ensure remote was successfully changed back to SAT mode, you can press select or any other button you chose & as long as the SAT button lights up when you press another remote control button- then your all set to go & everything should be working once again! I hope this helps -please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with! -Kirstie DISH Network

Remote buttons light up, nothing happens , wont run the reciever

Phil with DISH Network here and happy to help! Here are some steps thatshould fix your remote:

Step 1:
Check if the issue is with a specific button. If its just one button that isnot working we need to have the remote replaced.

Step 2:
We want to make sure that the correct remote is being used for the TV in this room. Use remotekey (Green "1" or Blue "2 UHF") to confirm itis being used in the correct room. TV1 is located in the same room as your DISHreceiver.

Step 3:
If UHF, check that your UHF remote antenna is securely connected to the "RemoteAntenna" port on the back of your receiver and that the antenna isupright.

Step 4:
If issue is with the TV2 remote, bring your TV2 remote with you to TV1. Access "SystemInfo" at TV1, using the remote that is NOT functioning, pressand release the "SAT" button then press and release the RECORDbutton on remote control.

Step 5:
If the batteries in the remote have not been replaced in the past 60 days, replace the batteries. If the remote doesn't light up after replacingbatteries, have the remote replaced.

Step 6:
Unplug the receiver for 10 seconds then repeat step 4.

Step 7:
If the remote is still not working the issue may be caused by IR interference.Find interference source (back lighting or power save mode on LCD TV's,fluorescent lighting in room, or direct sunlight). Getting rid of theinterference should fix it.
If you are using a UHF remote, find interference source (component(s)(VCR, DVD Player, etc.) near DISH receiver), adjust UHF antenna, or distance UHF antenna from receiver using coax cable.

After completing all these steps if you're remote is not working give us a callfor additional troubleshooting at 1-800-333-DISH (3474).

Thanks for being a value DISH Network customer!

All Four Red Lights On, Cannot Use Remote

This is a new one-
I would try removing the batteries and letting it ferment overnight; it sounds like too many other electronic devices that 'hang up.' If you ahve the setup leased, they will send you a replacement and return mailing instructions.
BTW, don't let them bully you into paying anything for . . . anything. If you have been faithful paying them, they have a moral responsibility to keep their junk running. There's always DirecTV, doncha know?
