Question about HP Pavilion dv7-1129wm Notebook
I just replaced a motherboard in an HP DV7 laptop. the unit comes on for about 30-45 seconds (plugged in or on battery) during which time I am able to go into BIOS and look at some settings OR let it try to start windows. After at most 45 seconds the unit powers off. I am not sure whether this is a heating problem although I did put thermal grease on the heatsink and can hear the fan turning. Any ideas folks? I am 89% sure it is not a battery or charger problem.
It is graphic card problem, its very common in dv7, the display chipset fail to render properly and system turn off, if system under warranty ask them to replace bec its very common and if warranty is near to end then definately go for extended warranty.
