I just replaced a motherboard in an HP DV7 laptop. the unit comes on for about 30-45 seconds (plugged in or on battery) during which time I am able to go into BIOS and look at some settings OR let it try to start windows. After at most 45 seconds the unit powers off. I am not sure whether this is a heating problem although I did put thermal grease on the heatsink and can hear the fan turning. Any ideas folks? I am 89% sure it is not a battery or charger problem.
