My Frigidaire electric dryer Model GLEQ332 AS/2 manufactured March 2004 makes a fast clicking sound when the tumbler is rotating, either by the motor, or turned manually by hand. It sounds as if there is a piece of plastic touching the parts of the motor that turn. I look through the service port and see no problem with the motor, belt, other moving parts that I can see. It could be the motor axel, but I see no vibrations. This problem started suddenly today. Never heard this sound. What do you think?

This may require several trouble-shooting steps. First, it sounds as if the gas is turned on and ignited. It also, sounds as if the motor/blower is not rotating. Check the motor continuity, the electrical supply to the motor, and whether the motor (with electricity turned off) rotates by hand freely.

the bearings need replacing they have colapsed thus throwing the tumbler out of alignment

No call for service

Sounds like the drum support rollers. They wear out after several years of operation.

See this link, and look at the parts under the schematic area labeled "Tumbler" , part description #24. Also check out the Motor Drive section.

ok can u turn the tumbler freely,
if no well there is something stuck in you blower like a sock or something
if the tumbler turns freely
keep the door open and hold the door switch
try pushing the start button
and tuning the tumbler, yes all three at the same time lol you may need a hand
try tuning the tumbler when you hear a hum
if it takes off bad news your start winding on the motor is bad or the capacitor depending on your model
if it does not turn, but the hum continues longer than 1-2 minutes it could be just a belt

no it sounds like your motor may be loose...there should be no gap at all

Belt Dryers have a drive belt that turns the clothes drum. If the belt breaks, the drum stops rotating. Then you need to replace the belt, and often the idler pulley, because the pulley tends to wear out at the same time.

Motor If the dryer motor only hums when you press the Start button, the motor may be burned out. Here's how to test the dryer motor:

• Remove the belt.



• Check for obstructions in the blower fan housing.



• Manually rotate the shaft of the motor.

If the motor is very stiff, or impossible to rotate manually, and the blower fan housing is clear, you need to replace the motor.

If the motor rotates freely, run the motor momentarily with the belt removed and the blower in place. If the motor runs fine with the belt removed, there may be a problem with the idler pulley or the clothes drum. Try to rotate the drum by hand. If it is very difficult to move, correct any problem with the rollers or pulley, and then reassemble the dryer and try it again.

If the motor hums but doesn't rotate on its own even with the belt removed--yet you can turn it freely by hand--you usually need to replace the motor or the motor start capacitor.

Door switch Your dryer can't operate at all if the door switch is defective. It's inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it."Source Repaiclinic
