The only way the volume could be limited is if you were in the hidden tech menu----many of these sets have a setting there for initial volume level and maximum volume level.

Were you in the TECH menu for some reason?

I can tell you how to get in but you have to be very careful if you make any ADJUSTMENTS there--over 200 things can be adjusted there.

Let me know if I can help.

With the TV turned off on the sony remote:
    Display, 5, vol up, power

1 and 4 will allow you to navigate up and down in the menu.

3 and 6 will allow you to alter settings----note the number to the right of each item; copy it down before you adjust--

if you find what you are looking for and adjust it to save it hit muting, and then enter

BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO JUST RANDOMLY ADJUST THINGS---there are a lot of items in the menu.

Is There A Required Minimum Or Maximum Factoring Volume?

No, however the greater the higher because higher volume can translate to lower fees for invoice factoring.

Is there a way to set a lower maximum volume? We have an elderly, mentally ill man living in our house, and he frequently maxes out the TV volume while others are trying to sleep.

you can put child lock password on the tv for volume control .. that should help. but an elderly person might not be able to hear properly then.

dont mind this advise ..but a pair of bluetooth headphones may work.

I have a Samsung TXH1970. Is there any way to increase the maximum volume? Sometimes when I turn up the volume to maximum it still seems not loud enough. I have tried lowering the sound with the remote...

The audio section of our TVs is often combined in a single integrated circuit. You can buy these with differing degrees of gain and power and some sets are built to sell at a certain price level so cost-cuts are made in areas like this. There is not normally any internal controls that can limit or raise the sound level.
What you might consider: Check front and back to see if you find the standard 3.5 millimeter 'headphone jack.'
If so, check at any department store or computer outlet for a pair of 'stereo speakers' intended for desktop computers. These are amplified by an internal amplifier in one side and the other side is plugged into the main speaker. These sets are small and cheap; often under $20 although they range upward to $100s as well. If you just want more volume, these will provide it, but the cheapest are no 'hifi' by any means.
The link below to eBay will show you a typical set of these with a 3.5mm plug and the power ratings are at least believable; many are not.

My aunt who has an KDL26U2000 sony tv and has it too loud. She is driving her neighbour crazy. Please tell me how to set the volume so it will not be allowed to go any higher.

Check the manual. See whether volume lock menu is there!

Then lock to the desired value & keep the volume lock in ON position.

Hope she does not know to re- set it!!

My KDS-R60XBR1 turn up volume to maximum loud and stays loud

Question:
Take the batteries out of both the remotes and then try to turn the TV on with it's On/off switch built into the TV.
If it turns on and the volume stays the same, then it must be an issue with one of the remotes.
If the tv turns on and the volume ramps up to max. Please check if volume knobs/buttons on the tv itself to see if they are sticking.
If they aren't, there is something wrong with one of the boards in the tv of course. This sure should be something a Sony Service Shop can fix. I don't think it will be expensive. Maybe a $100 to $200 repair if they do the work.

Volume automatically goes to maximum

This sounds like there is a stuck button. With the TV off, try each of the panel buttons. You should feel the button engage. If not, that is the faulty one that should be replaced. Also, check to be sure that the plastic covering that extends to the actual switch inside the set is not broken causing a switch to be stuck on.
Keep us posted.
