Question about Mitsubishi WS-65909 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65909 w/a steady blinking timer light. Steps I have tried to correct include: System reset for 10 seconds (after I left unplugged and disconnected from ALL attached components for 24 hrs.), Error Code OPERATIONAL CHECK (DEVICE+MENU) for 20 seconds with no change, pressed Power + Menu buttons simultaneously and held depressed for 20 seconds with no change, pressed Power + Display buttons simultaneously and held depressed for 20 seconds with no change, and removed DM Module to check for blown capacitors-all look fine. In fact, there are NO bulging capacitors on any of the 3 boards. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Only one of two reasons for your problem--either the DM is bad OR:

These sets sometimes develop a problem with the front keyboard---micro switches in back of the plastic buttons can fail (reset one is common).

Remove front speaker grill and inspection plate behind it and follow the group of wires coming down from the front keyboard to the right top edge of the opening.

About 8 inches to the right you will find two plugs that are inline--they go to the keyboard--disconnect both and turn set on with REMOTE (remote receiver is behind the screen).

If the set now functions you have a bad micro switch on the keyboard (most likely the reset) and two choices---either leave the keyboard unplugged and just use the remote or remove entire screen and get at the circuit board and locate and replace defective micro switch.

Lots of people miss this as a possible choice--easy to do to either know it is the keyboard or not.

If set does not operate this way DM is bad regardless of how caps look.

How do i locate the dm. the problem stated above is exactly whats going on. i get green blinking light steady with nothing else. someone also mentioned bypassing timer, and it will work?

The DM board is located in the sheilded box to the left side of the unit looking from the rear. You have to disassemble most of the unit to get to it. I have a tip at which explains the problem and where to get a board repair kit to repair the unit. The same company has excellent installation instructions.

When I power up the TV, I hear a click and the green light turns on, but seconds later, it clicks off.

try self check==when it shuts off press and hold both menu and input buttons on the front of the set for 5 seconds and release both====power light should blink a two digit code===most common is 2 blinks and then 2 blinks, let me know error code and I will tell you what it means====it should repeat the code 10 times

We have the dreaded blinking green "timer" light after we unplugged the WS - 65909. We can't get it to reset according to the owner's guide instructions.

The Digital module must be repaired. It is not booting up. When first plugged in the LED in that set will blink for 70 to 90 seconds. That is the amount of time it takes for the digital module to boot up. If it continues to blink past that time the module is belly up and needs to have some capacitors changed in it. Most reputable shops can do this in your home and average cost is between $150 and $250 depending on where you live.

Will not stay on., Automatically turns off.

Try pressing in both the menu and device/input buttons in together on the front of the set and hold for 5 seconds to see if the led will blink a two digit error code such as 2 blinks then a pause then two more blinks followed by a pause which would indicate a 22 error. Then let me know what the blink code was if any.
