Insulation of the pipes is a partial solution but, you need a "cilypaper" re-circulation pump with thermostatic switches or manual (switch) installed at the furthers faucet in the house.

OK Lag the Pipes, you can get insulation that comes in two halves that goes around the pipes and uses "Ties" to hold the sides together. Or you could lag it with Hessian wrap, Anything you can wrap around and "Lag" the pipes with will be better than nothing.

After city changed water meter the water is not consistently hot.

There are two things to check. First, check the inlet water filter on the heater. The changing of the meter may have introduced debris in the line and partially clogged the filter, causing flow issues that affect turn-on/turn-off of the unit. Also, the new meter may have changed the water pressure/flow rate into the house, If the filter is not the problem, have the inlet water pressure/flow rate checked. If it is too low, there may be some adjustment that can be made, or the city may have to replace the meter with a different unit.

Changes in amount of water flow from shower head

when he soldered the connections on these pipes.. he may have partially blocked the flow with solder inside..if its restricted up to 50% then its a hell of a pressure loss..hot water is always lower in pressure anyway..also take the shower head and dunk in a clr solution it may have calcium deposits inside the small plastic orafices in it..

The left canister probably has a grounded element in it, which will keep power going after the water is off. Either that or you have a bad triac on your control unit

When I run hot water for the tub, it has a brown tint

10 year old homes today usually do not have galvanized pipe. They have copper or pex plastic pipe. These do not rust.
Is rusty water on both hot and cold line, or just hot line?
Just hot line, then check anode rod and flush tank:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Replace-anode-rod.html
http://waterheatertimer.org/Clean-sediment-out-of-water-heater.html#flush
Are you on water well? Well casing can get rusted. Water can have minerals. Call local water well service and describe problem in detail.
Are you on city water or mudd district water? Is pipe coming into house made of galvanized? Look inside meter box or look at pipe coming into house. Sometimes the city water line at end of run can get filled with sediments that will discolor water. Have water company flush the city water line.

Trouble adjusting the water temperature for the Grohmix. I cannot get much coldwater.

hi

does the water flow decrease when you lower the temperture?
is there a pump on it?

remove the thermostat housing, their should be a grub screw on the side.
pull the housing off the spindel.
turn the spindel anti clock wise.the more you turn the lower the temperature.
refit housing
turn shower on and test

more info is required if this does not solve the issue

You have a clog in the water line?
Or a faulty check valve or mixing valve?

Add a comment and say how you fixed the problem, or add more information about size of pipes.
It seems like the cold water is getting into the hot water line somehow. There is no other explanation, as much as I can see from 800+ miles away.
If you have crossover on a single-handled faucet where the cartridge is bad, that can cause this problem.
Slab house can have plumbing in attic. It can be a chore to drop poly pipe down into walls, but it can be done with angle drill. Assuming walls are 8 foot high and pipes can be easily dropped to sink level where the sheetrock is removed and new pipes tied into sinks and tubs.
This kind of DIY project would take a couple weeks working a few hours each night when temps cool off, depending on size of house and number of affected faucets.
I live in Houston on a slab and ran my pipes in the attic when I built the house. Of course I worry about broken pipes collapsing the ceiling and filling the house with water, which happened to lots of homes one year when temps dropped to 4 below. I was in the painting business at that time, which was a boon to business for a few weeks.

Upvote the help.
And take advantage of fixya expert assistance live.

That is normal, the heat just rises from the hot water, the pipe on the right should be cold and if you were to run hot water anywhere in the house it will immediately cool of the cold inlet pipe and you can feel it

Check the electrical supply to the unit but my guess would be an issue with the water flow sensor.

Water doesn't stay hot PowerStar AE3.4

Are you using a single lever faucet? The install guide does indicate that you may need to reduce the input from the cold water side to ensure that water stays at a consistent temperature (see page 7 of the installation and service manual). Also, remember, this is a SMALL hot water heater. So if you're running for any length of time at full output, it may not keep up with you (see page 8 of the service an installation manual). I found the manual online at http://www.airwater.biz/images_templ/bosch-water-heaters-ae3.4-manual.pdf.

Water heater problem (no leak on floor)

It sounds like you might have scale buildup on the elements. If its a dual element unit it will ground it self out and it sounds like its boiling. constance usage of electricity, but no water usage. Drain it, and pull the element and replace the element.
