Question about D-Link AirPlus G Wireless Range Extender DWL-G710 (dwlg710) Repeater

5 Answers

I can't get to http://192.168.0.30/

Every time I try to begin the configuration for my DWL-G730AP router, when I type the http://192.168.0.30/ in the URL, Gateway and Google tell me they can't find this address and instead give me a list of suggested web pages. My D-Link router instructions say to type the above in the URL and then a page showing where I can put in my username and Password will come up. But, this doesn't happen--the Gateway/Google page comes up instead. Any help would be appreciated. I have a Gateway PC and Windows Vista.

Thanks,
Alice

Same Problem... I have power, have established the LAN, but it can't see the server to get to the correct "Setup" IP address (http://192.168.0.30)
I have configured this before, so it's EXTRA frustrating to be stuck this time around, (after hitting the reset button on the Range Extender). All seems to work fine, then... no joy when I try to browse to the address above. And yes, I can get to other sites just fine.

In XP go to network connections, right click on local area connections, left click on properties, under "This connection uses the following items:" left click on internet protocol (TCP/IC) to highlight it. Left click on properties. Change the IP: address to 192.168.0.130.
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0.
Default Gateway to:192.168.0.30.
Click OK.
Open your browser and type in the address box: 192.168.0.30 it worked for me.

You need to set your computer to a static ip address such as 192.168.0.130. you should now be able to connect to 192.168.0.30. From he on, you can change any setting you need to.

SOURCE: I can't get to http://192.168.0.30/

i assume you are already configure the DWL-G730AP router into http://192.168.0.30/

First try to ping first. go to ms dos prompt, you can go to start and choose run then type cmd (enter).

in ms dos prompt type ping 192.168.0.30

if request time out.

check your ip first, type this ipconfig

make sure that your ip in the same class like 192.168.0.X

for example your ip address 192.168.0.50 then you must be able to reach 192.168.0.30. it must be reply state in ping.

if you ip address in the same class but doesn't reply, then you must check your LAN Cable, try to replace with the new one.

hope this helps you.

I have many times tried to set up my DWL-G730AP Wireless Router with no success. I have typed the url http://192.168.0.30, but keep getting a list of web pages so I have to use my system without security...

This is the correct address to log on to your router. 192.168.0.30 so i dont know why you are having problems.
Try to reset your router (press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds) and then follow the guide i found here, give the page a minute to load, it is fully illustrated with pictures, so is a little slow to load up

Trouble logging into a D-Link DWL-G710 Wireless

Let me try to get the info straight:

Your computers IP address (manually configured): 192.168.1.4
D-Link Range Extender IP: 192.168.0.30

If this is correct, you will need to change your IP to something like:

192.168.0.X (make sure it's not in use on your network already)

otherwise you will not be able to connect to it with your comptuer.

Try to configure your new router and you have to reconfigure the Range extender to tally with the new router. The IP Address that the range extender should have should depend on the DHCP server of your router that provides the IP Address.

DWL-G710 won't connect to 192.168.0.30

Here is a link to the manual for your DWL-G710.
D-Link manual on page 13 it lists the url entry should be
"http://192.168.0.30" This is a HTTP link not a HTTPS.
Also the address you typed in might be a typo. The IP address should be 192.168.0.30 not 192.168.0.30.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

I did this with Windows 7 but the same solution applies to Vista and XP.
1. Connect the Range Extender (mine happens to be the DWL-G710) by cable to your computer. 2. Open the Network and Sharing Center. 3. Click on the connection, then on "Properties" 4. From the list select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click properties. 5. Select "Use the following IP address" 6. Use the following settings: IP Address: 192.168.0.130 Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 Default gateway: 192.168.0.30 7. Click OK then Close. Give the computer a few seconds to re-establish the connection. 8. Go back to your browser and type 192.168.0.30 again. It will work. 9. Don't forget to go back once you're finished and change the setting back to "Obtain IP address automatically."
Also, it's a bad idea to use WEP encryption as any password you would use is easily crackable within a few minutes using the Aircrack suite of hacking tools in Linux. Even someone using Windows can use a live Linux distribution such as BackTrack which is bootable from a CD to hack in and get your password. Once they have it they're in and use your internet connection.
Use WPA-PSK encyption or better and choose a password that can't be found in any dictionary or on the web. It can't be hacked as of yet.

when using the AP you have to make sure you set the SSID, channel & wireless key in the AP the exact same as the router and make sure when configuring the Ap that you set the default gateway as the IP address of the router.

Are you using the correct cable type. If it is a CAT5 type cable it could be you are using a patch cable rather than a straight through type or vise versa.
