Intermittant problems can be very difficult to find. It may or may not have the self check feature---when it goes out if the power light goes off:

On the front of the set press both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds and then release both; power light (if this model has the self check) should blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks---it will repeat it at least 5 times.

If you get an error code let me know what it is and I will tell you what it means.

If no error code let me know what happens when it goes out:

1) Is there sound?
2) Does the power light stay on or go off?
3) Is there any pattern to problem? (more when on after a while or when first turned on etc.)

I know these sets well and the more you can tell me the better the chance I can help you.

My Sansui model hdlcd3700 has sound but no picture at the power on, the back light flashes once. my question is power supply or or inverter?

first of all you have to check the power supply. sometimes bad electrolytic capacitors on the power supply can lead to such problems. may the capacitors seems ok visually but not be good in performance. if power supply is ok then you have to go for a ne inverter board. check the video to understand how to check the power supply of lcd tv

I have left my viera panasonic plasma tv model TH-P50X10A, unpluged for two months I tried to power it up the green light flickers for a moment then slowly flashes red and the tv dosen't work.?

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

I have a panasonic plasma hdtv. When I turn it on--usually--the red light flashes. It flashes continually--not in a sequence. I can keep pusing the power button and sometimes the tv will power on--but...

Must have to take the tv aparts, check the tv power supply board carefully. That the board where the tv a/c power cord plug into it.Look for dying and leakages capacitors components parts. These dying and leakages capacitors parts are causes this problems 90-95% of the times. These dying and leakages capacitors components parts are alway bulges up and or puffing up onto it tops.It dosen't supose to have a flat tops as those are good capacitors components parts that are alway have flats and even cyclinder head tops.If u have all the tools and know basic electronic and also u can do basic soldering work too than u must have to changes all these dying and leakages capacitors components parts that are bulges ups or puffing ups on to it cyclinders tops, will solved this tv problems LED power liight inconsistance staying on power LED light indicaton flashes. If u can't do soldering works on an a electronic board components levels works.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish tv power supply board for the replacement.

Tv powers on and right back off.

Yes, this does seem to be a fairly common problem with Emerson TV's, especially the LC320EM8's, and some of the LC320EM9's, sometimes appearing in less than 90 days after purchase. The tv needs to be taken to an authorized service center to be looked at. Common causes are a bad power inverter/supply, or a bad power control board, or a bad circuit board.

Fading and losing pictures

If your TV has more then 1500-2000 hours of usage chances are the power board is starting to fail due to the amount of heat that the parts are expose to when the TV is on. There seems to be a high failure rate on power supplies due to overheating.
The solution to get the TV working properly will be to have a new power board or repair the on inside your TV.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

HEY AWOOD,THIS SYMPTOM IS DUE TO POWER CAPACITORS GOING BAD IN THE POWER SUPPLY AND THESE CAPS CAN CAUSE A COUPLE DIFFERENT SYMPTOMS,YOURS SEEMS TO BE THE MOST COMMON.IF YOU'RE TECHY ENOUGH YOU CAN REMOVE THE BACK AND GET ACCESS TO THE TWO PLUGS ON THE LITE ENGINE TO TEST (WITH A VOLTMETER) THE 5 VOLT SUPPLY ON I BELIEVE PLUG J19 PINS 1 AND 3.IF LOW THEN REPLACE 6 CAPACITORS ON POWER BD. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE IF THEY ARE BAD JUST BY A VISUAL INSPECTION.GOOD LUCK JOE TV
