Question about Mitsubishi WD-52631 52" Projection HDTV

Wd52631 will work for awhile and then it goes blue. Sometimes it will come back but most of the time I have to turn it off and let it cool down and the picture will come back. R

No error messages the screen just goes blue. If it does not come back in awhile the TV says that it is going to shut off because it is not receiving a signal but yet the receiver still shows the HDMI signal and we are hearing the sound coming out of the receiver. R

Vents are clear air is circulating. I even keep a small auxilary fan behind the tv and the cabinet is well ventilated. I replaced the lamp 6-20-08.

This is a DLP tv so the reason it would lose its picture is because it lost video drive to the display mechnism. That would be on the video board. You probably are not going to be able to find it and a tech would just replace the board. If you are not familiar with electronics you probably should get a reputable shop to fix your unit. It should not be more than several hundred dollars. Let me know how you make out.

Hi,
This, unfortunately, is a fairly common problem with this TV. Fortunately it shouldn't be too expensive.
As you say, it's ok when cooled down, and therein lies your problem.
Check that the fan is working first of all. This fan draws in cool air and the warm air is expelled from the vents (you should be able to feel warm air coming from one of the vents). These vents need to be clear of dust. If they are blocked, you need to clear them with air. Do not use a hoover as they can build up static and zap your tv components.
These tvs don't like being in cabinets by the way, as they can't get enough cool air and often **** in the warm air they've just expelled.
If none of this helps, then it's likely you have a defective thermistor, which is reasonably easy to replace and shouldn't cost too much; certainly cheaper that a new tv set!
Regards
Zahc

Is the fan suppose to keep going off and on after the vehicle has been turned off awhile it goes off then comes back on

Yes it has a temperature sensor and through convection of the hot water moving to the top of the cooling system as it cools off, the sensor is seeing the temp rise and turns the fan on to cool it back down

HI RLF,

You might want to turn your Gain setting down a little. Also Look to be sure you have enough air flow around the amp. If it cannot breath, the heat from the amp will build until it wigs out. Use your Ingenuity to get more air to the AMp.
