I am unable to hot sync. I receive the following error message " The connection btw your handheld computer and desktop could be be established. I have checked all the connections, made sure USB is selected and tried Com 1 and Com 3. Tried loading the software again but, it will not allow me to fully install until a hot sync connection is completed. I hope you can help.

Re: Garmin ique 3600 hot sync issues
You have to have a HOTSYNC ICON in your Quick Start menu. If not, then CLICK ON YOUR HOTSYNC ICON in your PC and "THEN" push the HOTSYNC BUTTON on your Cradle. Make sure it is set for PC CRADLE CABLE, both the PC and the Unit itself. If one is turned off, it will not transfer. Works the same for IR too..
I had the same problem. Obtained no help from Garmin - $200 to repair.
I purchased a $7.00 IRDA (infra red) - USB device; set my Connection to IR - PC and have been able to sync without any problems. However even withupdates I have not been able to get the cradle - PC connection to work. This is not a problem however since I now use the IR connection all the time.
You must touch the screen hot sync logo not the cradle button to start the sync process.

If reinstalling on the same computer with your original cd doesnt' work then I suspect that your registry has gotten corrupted somehow.
I'd find another computer and try a totally new install to see if that works. This registry stuff is a headache. If it works on a different computer then I'd go into the registry and remove all traces of Palm and ique and start all over. Always make a backup of your registry before messing around with it. If the original CD worked before then there's no reason to download newer versions unless you are wanting to solve some other problems. Don
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 and the iQue did not work. There is no USB driver and as far as I know there isn't going to be one. However, I did get it working by installing Windows XP mode and the Windows Virtual Machine on my XP system. You need to check if your computer can run XP mode and there are Microsoft tools to do that. After you get XP mode installed and running, there will be a virtual XP window on your desktop. Plug the iQue in its cradle and plug it in to the USB port. Use your iQue setup CD to install the Palm desktop in XP as you normally would. At some point, you have to tell XP to attach your iQue to the USB port. Near the XP title bar, there is a USB pull-down menu. Use this to attach the device. It will ask for a driver. Just say to use the Garmin-supplied driver. Wait until this finishes successfully. Before trying a sync, open the Palm desktop and go to Hotsync/custom and change everything you can to "handheld overwrites desktop" and save this. Push the hotsync button on the cradle. If it doesn't connect, go to the USB pull-down and click attach. It should work!
If you are trying to HotSync to a Macintosh, you need to install Lycestra's PDiQue software available at http://www.lycestra.com/ique.html before HotSyncing is enabled. PDiQue enables a USB conduit between your Mac and the Garmin iQue 3600.
I have the same problem as above it starts to install and then says you must turn garmin on - its only and contect to usb it is connected, did the property thing it shows local. checked garmin FAQ did what it said and got same answer HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I got a Vista computer in April and have problems also. You need a special program to install the maps. email Garmin and they will send you the link. An SD card reader/writer is MUCH faster than the sync.
I didn't have syncing problems until after I tried to install Documents to Go. I had to remove Doc to Go v6 because it was making my computer unstable. Doc to GO V10 works with Vista but requires Palm OS6. Garmin says that Palm OS6 can't be installed on the Garmin iQue because they added proprietary software to OS4. I believe my sync problems will disappear after I reload the Palm Software.
Go to my computer, right click -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager.
Locate your IQUE 3600, or Palm.
Now, if your palm has a Yellow Exclamation mark on it, that means that your computer is not recognizing the Palm. Select Driver details. Re-install the driver off the "Setup CD" that came with your IQUE 3600.
