Problem with lens

Hi,

When I turn on the camara to take a picture, the screen appears black. Then the camara's little light bulb begins to flash non-stop and I cannot take any pictures. Is something wrong with the lens? And why is the screen black?

It is possible you have the display turned off... Some cameras allow you to do this to save battery.

My camera turns on and the screen remains black. All settings show up on the display screen, but you cannot see anything but black. I can snap a picture and it takes a picture of solid black. I have exhausted the battery and fully recharged. I have formated the memory card and tried to restore all original settings to default. I have no idea what else to do. Can you help?

If you are using the built-in flash and a telephoto lens, the end of the lens can block some of the light from the flash and that appears as a slightly rounded black "hump" at the bottom of your picture.

Round black spot in middle of the picture/screen

Hi :-)

The round blotch your seeing on the screen is the melting of an acrylic lens inside the light engine. Its a design flaw which unfortunately Infocus will not stand behind. To fix this problem requires opening the light engine and putting an equivalent lens in place. This task is very involved, but this problem is repairable and you need a glass smith to cut the right size lens from the original.

You have a bad CCD imager. Find a repair shop that can strip a CCD from a camera with a bad lens. This is the least costly repair.

Canon Powershot SI screen goes black after taking a photo

That sounds like a sticky lens shutter. They usually have to be replaced, as they usually will need parts. When the camera is working look inside the lens and take a picture(with flash turned off). You should see a black shutter door clicking shut in the lens. When the camera acts up, look inside the lens again. If the door is staying shut full time, that is your problem.

Canon digial camara, have picture is black

Black picture = faulty lens shutter. If lens shutter is always in closed position, no light can enter the camera lens. Replace camera lens part.

Read replace lamp then afew weeks later heard pop noise and now black screen

Two things in your TV can make that popping sound. One is the bulb of course and the other is a capacitor. Have you pulled out the bulb to inspect it? My guess is that you have broken glass in the cooling fan, which is why there is a grinding sound. Most bulbs tend to contain the glass from getting everywhere as it's only the filament inside that pops creating little diamond looking pieces inside the lens. If a surge was strong enough or if the bulb was poorly manufactured, the whole unit can explode inside spraying glass everywhere.

If the bulb looks fine, the pop must've been a capacitor on one of your circuit boards resulting in no display. Since the TV still powers on, your power supply and it's fuse appear to be fine. Check the bulb first and go from there.
