Runs constantly but does not cool properly - Frigidaire Refrigerators

Posted by on

1 Answer

Check the temperature control settings

Allow about 24 hours for the unit to cool down and stabilize after initial installation

Make sure that both the refrigerator and freezer contain a reasonable food load

Make sure refrigerator and freezer doors can close and can properly seal

Make sure the back wall of the freezer does not have an ice build-up

Check to see if large containers are placed against the back wall of the refrigerator

Check to see if the condenser is dirty

Be sure the refrigerator is installed in an area where the temperature will not go below 60°F (16°C) or exceed 110°F

Verify that the refrigerator has proper air clearance

Make sure the interior lights are going off when the doors are closed

Your refrigerator may be in its Defrost Cycle

Clean the bottom of the unit and make sure there is no dust or dirt blocking the fans

Why are my cooling fans for radiator running constantly?

The cooling fans are supposed to run any time the a/c is on in order to keep air flowing across the condenser. Your a/c will not work properly at idle if they quit.

The frigerator & freezer are not cooling properly . i hear the compressor running . i have also diconnected cleanned inside and out but still the unit is not cooling properly . even on higest settings

If the compressor is running almost all the time (and the compressor sounds ok - no pinging/clunking),
then your side-by-side has developed a coolant leak.

When a system is low on coolant, the thermostat detects the warm condition of the refrigerator, and
runs the compresor motor in an attempt to cool off the refrigerator compartment, but if there's little
or no refrigerant in the system, the system's attempt to cool off the refregerator/freezer will fail,
with the symptom that the user wil hear the compressor motor running constantly.

Freezer working fine the fridge is not

The motor running constantly means the fridge is not sealed properly so that it is losing cold to outside. Check if the door of the fridge seals properly.

Hissing sound and constantly running generator

The only thing I can think of that you may be hearing would be if the compressor has a problem. If you notice cooling performance decrease or it stops cooling, I believe you will find the compressor has bad internal valves. It will probably take a technician to properly diagnose this and if the compressor has this problem the only answer is to replace the compressor.
I hope this helps, supertechks

which fan? the exhaust fan or the control board cooling fan? the cooling fan is controlled by a thermostat just behind the control panel. it turns the fan to protect the board from overheating.
