LOL, sounds like your tablet has seen it's better days. See why HP got out of the Tablet business? They are nothing but trouble.

Gateway kav60 not charging. i have to wiggle the cord and sometimes it refuses to charge.

I guess you've got a broken laptop power dc jack or power cable.

Symptoms of a broken Laptop DC power jack:

- The laptop only operates when you hold the DC power plug in a certain direction (DC jack is broken or loose).
- The laptop only runs on battery power (no power is getting through the DC jack).
- The laptop gets no power at all.
- The laptop will not charge the battery.
- The laptop switches from AC power to battery power intermittently due to a loose or broken power jack.
- The laptop suddenly shuts off.
- The DC jack may feel loose.
- Sparks come out of the back of the laptop when you insert the power plug into the DC jack.

Keeps turning off by itself. Now it turns off as

It seems to me the first place I'd check is the power supply because it shuts off. There might be a short or the power jack might be loose.

Acer laptops are notorious for overheating which could be your problem as well. A couple months ago, in my computer shop, I had a computer do the exact same but it would shut off a half an hour after boot up. I offered to apply thermal paste on the chips inside the laptop, but he didn't feel like putting money into it, so he sold it.

If your tech savvy, you can try and take apart the laptop and look to see if the jack is loose and apply thermal paste on all the exposed chips. Just Google your laptop manufacture and model and you should be able to get a tear down guide. (I looked for 5 minutes and couldn't find anything, sorry) I like iFixit for guides and you maybe able to find more information about your problem there. Try message boards/forums there might be someone helpful there. If all else fails take your laptop to a local "small business" computer repair shop. Don't use the big retail stores like Best Buy/GeekSquad because they are horrible at diagnosing problems (they think everything is caused by a virus) and rip people off.

I hope I helped you get more information about your problem. If you have questions, just comment below. Good luck solving your computer problem!

My powercord

Try another power supply. If you don't have one try visiting the place you purchased the laptop and using the power from one of their display units. If it works, then replace the power supply of course.

If not hopefully your laptop is still under warranty.

Does the jack feel loose, do you get an lights?

Let me know.

Dell Inspiron 6000, charging AC problems

This sounds as if the jack in the machine is loose or broken. Take a small screwdriver, place it in the jack, and see if there is any play in the jack. If there is play then you know the jack is loose/broken. I would suggest checking it or having someone check it. A loose or broken jack can create an electrical arch that can do severe damage to the machine, so if it is the jack, you will want to get it fixed ASAP. I also suggest not using the machine, if possible, until the jack is checked out. If it turns out not to be the jack, then it's going to be a problem with the power management system, and this is a major fix. From what you've posted, I'm going to say that it's the jack, and repairing the jack will fix your problem. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask.

My HP Pavalion dv1000 shutsdown automatically after some time

I had this same problem. I resolved it this way after many attempts. This seems very simple but it worked in my case and does make sense. I finally removed the black plastic trim piece on the back of the laptop that covers the adapter connector and connected the adapter directly to the receptical. I have never had the problem with it intermittently shutting down again. It appears that the trim piece was not allowing the proper connection between the adapter and the motherboard. Mine would usually power off within one minute and the battery would never completly charge. I know this sounds strange but it worked.

Power jack repaired now comp shuts down

the power jack plug is still loose. Tad risky opening up the shell like that, perhaps the problem was deeper than just the jack....I am curious if it can do a full battery charge if you left it recharge for a couple of hours.
