Dear youth87,
In order for you to be able to upload songs from computer to iPod, you will need to download iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download iTunes, then install it. Open up iTunes, and from inside iTunes, go to: Edit/Preferences/Advanced. In here under iTunes Media folder location, choose the location where you have downloaded the songs by clicking the Change button. After this, all the music that you have on that folder, and all the music that you will add to that folder later, will appear on the iTunes library pane (the one in the right side). After you have completed this process, connect your iPod to you computer. Now your iPod should appear on the left side pane (the grey pane). In order to add music to you iPod, just drag and drop the music from the library pane, to your iPod on the left side pane. When you do this, you should see a grey circle close to the iPod. This circle means that music is being copied in your iPod. Continue this process until you have all the music you want in your iPod.
Hope this helps,

I am having a problem syncing my ipod with itunes. it synchs about 140 songs and then does not respond. I have tried everything from reboot, reinstalling, restoring and formatting the ipod.

I actually fixed the problem.... I change the letter of the drive that the ipod was showing e.g, IPOD (G:) changed to IPOD (I:).

You have to plug in the ipod, right click on my computer and go into Manage.

You then click on Disk Management, highlight ipod in the right hand pane. You then right click ipod and chang the letter of the drive.

Then disconnect the ipod, reconnect and restore and hey presto!

I downloaded some pictures twice and I cannot find how/where to delete them. iPod 8GB, model #1236

You can not do it directly in the iPod. You have to use iTunes for deleting them.

Imported photos can be deleted from the iPod disk while it is attached to a Computer.

Connect the iPod to a Computer.

When the iPod icon appears in the iTunes Source list, select it.

If the Summary pane isn't showing, click the Summary tab.

Click "Enable disk use".

All imported photos are located in the "DCIM" folder on the iPod disk.

Delete the images which you want.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!

Syncing iPod with iTunes, infamous (-69) problem

just
This error occurs when iTunes tries to send files to your iPod, but a file (or files) is unusable (something is wrong with it).
To figure out which file (or files) is causing the error, update to the latest version of iTunes and then do this:
  1. Control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on your iPod icon in the iTunes Source pane, then choose Sync Songs from the shortcut menu.
  2. Watchthe display at the top of the iTunes window while your iPod is beingupdated. The name of the problematic file should appear in the displayright before the error appears. Then remove the bad file from the listof songs to be synced to your iPod.
  3. Select the iPod in the iTunes Source pane.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
  5. Selectthe "Only sync checked items" checkbox (please note that this checkboxis only available for an iPod configured to update automatically).
  6. Selectthe appropriate item under Library in the sidebar and find the bad filein the list. (For example, if the file in question was a song you wouldselect Music in the iTunes Source pane. If it were a video you wouldselect Movies or TV Shows in the sidebar.)
  7. Deselect the checkbox next to the file name.
  8. Repeatsteps 1 and 2 to update your iPod. If you have multiple problematicfiles in your iTunes library, you may need to repeat the other steps toremove them too.
To prevent future issues, you should delete the unusable files from your iTunes library, then restore them from a backup or reimport them from a CD.
If you're not able to isolate to any single file or if another iPodworks with the same songs, then disconnect any other devices connectedto USB or FireWire and try again. If the issue continues, then then tryresetting your iPod. If the issue continues, then restore your iPod.

New i/pod for xmas, charged it up but no instructions how to load

Just visit http://www.apple.com/itunes and download iTunes. When you run iTunes and have your iPod plugged-in, you will see your iPod in the left window pane of iTunes. You can drag your music from folders on your computer, and drop it on the icon of your iPod. You can also use the library in iTunes to manage your music, but I have always preferred dragging directly on the iPod as I mentioned above.

My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod

Hold in play/pause, and then connect to PC

I don't completely understand the "Firweire" reference. The manual (and logic) does not indicate that a firewire connection would work. Plain old USB for this device.

If you are asking how to add songs to you iPod
(assuming you want to use iTunes)

Sync your iPod with iTunes
4d26eb7.jpg

  1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
  2. When the iPod icon appears in the iTunes window (below Devices), select it.
  3. If the Summary pane isn't showing, click the Summary tab.
  4. To automatically sync your iPod:
    1. Make sure that "Manually manage music" is not selected.
    2. Click the Music tab and do one of the following:
    3. To automatically update your iPod with all the songs and playlists in your library, select "Sync music" and then select "All songs and playlists." iTunes loads the songs and playlists in your iTunes library onto your iPod, and deletes songs from your iPod that aren't in your library.
    4. To automatically update your iPod with only certain playlists, select "Sync music" and "Selected playlists," and then select the playlists you want synchronized.
  5. To manually sync your iPod:
    1. Make sure that "Manually manage music" is selected.
    2. Click Music (below Library, on the left side of the iTunes window) and then drag songs and playlists to your iPod.
