Question about Sony RDR-GX7 DVD Recorder

1 Answer

MY recorder is long longer recognizing DVD's when I insert it into the recorder. I have tried retail purchased DVD's (movies) DVD's that I had recorded on this same recorder and previously viewed on the recorder Blank DVD's dvd-r's DVD's recorded on another recorder. I inserted a few that it properly loaded and when I reinserted it later, message said "can not play this dvd".

I am attempting to try your solution with my problem. I began to remove the cover and am trying to expose the lazer lense. I can't seem to get to it. I am not sure of the exact location. Is it located inside the enclosure that holds the dvd? If so, how do I remove the board resting above it. there are wires connected that i can't seem to remove. am i going to have to go to a repair place. so far i have removed the top cover, the screws holding the motherboard looking thing, the screws holding the metal platform below it and the screws holding the front of the recorder. HELP.

Sounds like your unit has a dirty laser lense. Not too difficult to fix. If you are not sure or familiar with this procedure do not attempt it. Unplug unit, Remove all covers to expose the lazer lense (looks like a fisheye facing straight up. Using 200 proof alcohol and commercial grade, lint free swabs wet the swabs with alcohol and gently clean the lense with as little pressure as possible. Blow any dirt, and dry the lense with canned air. Reassemble everything and you should be good to go. If your unit still will not recognize discs you probably have a problem with the lazer losing power or it is dead. Either way you would need a professional tech to repair it. Let me know how you make out.

My dvd player keeps saying 'incorrect disk' why? and what can i do to stop it?

I don't understand your problem.
Is it the TV or is it the DVD? You say you tried other dvds and the problem is still there. Looks like the TV is the problem. Sometimes it's hard to help people when they only mention on screen issues. How can first DVD say 'incorrect disk' and then another dvd, and another still say 'incorrect disk'? It just doesn't seem to make sense. Is the contents on the disk a computer recorded movie, film or home movie? If so, you have to record the film on the disk with a format that accept the DVD. Could the DVD be a Blu-Ray, can it play a number of video formats, DVD, DivX, KviD DVD, etc.? Try first with a purchased movie DVD disc, if it doesn't work, then the DVD is faulty. DVD players these days are meant to play a wide range of video format, including CD discs. If you have an old DVD player, you may not play latest discs. But if the DVD is incorporated with the TV, then you have to insert a new movie and see if it plays. Go to an appliance or TV DVD store and talk to them. Or you can purchase a new movie and insert it in. If it doesn't work, you can always return it. As you said, you've tried different DVDs, sounds like it is a separate DVD player. If so, try other movie discs. I get the same warning only when I insert discs with movies I recorded on my computer, such as Pinnacle video editor.

Will not recognize disk inserted

Try changing your DVD regional locale. Some dvd/roms will restrict certain media if the locale is set to some other region than your own. The other thing you can do is update the drivers - - this seems arbitrary and you probably hear that often when asking a techie guru... But it is well justified. Also try different brands of dvdrws. Some dvd roms will restrict +rw - rw. Hope this helps.

Second, observe that the computers disk logos made specific demarcations least an alternate disk would least produce impressive expectations. Acquire a disk media at retails with movie material. Once inserted in computer disk compartment should take effects discussable. For example, the computer is prior designed to auto detect media material at insertion in components. Computer program also known as multimedia player displays momentarily after disk has been detected on computer. Compatible disks would display the media expectation either as audio CD or DVD movie. Alternately, in situation that the computer least displays recognizing media disk is indication that each entities has malfunctions. First disk media that least has movies or encountered malfunction is least recognized at insertion in computer compartment. Second, computers that least has the innovativeness of the disk media least recognize an impression. Alternately, computers that an internet connection would recommend a means to restoring malfunction that is encounter at inserting media in compartments. An expectation is to perform update to capture displays to outdated disks. Alternately, modern disks are recognized on computers that have network connections as least having the programs to capture an impression.

Try a lens cleaner for the DVD player. If this doesn't resolve the problem, your player may need repairs. Service can be obtained by returning to the retailer of purchase.

Can anybody help me, I purchased a Samsung dvd recorder model dvdvr350m, since purchasing the unit it will not recognize that it has recordable dvd's in it (dvd-rw),it tells me no disc inserted please...

Did the sales guy use the same DVD-RW that you did? Maybe the brand you are using is not of good quality and can not be recognized by the recorder. If he did not use the same disc did you notice if he used DVD-RW or DVD+RW? Some DVD-Recorders only recognize one or the other but this is kind of rare these days. I recommend verbatim brand discs. They should be available for sale at any shop. If you want the ultimate in quality DVDs then go with Taiyo Yuden. This Japanese brand invented recordable media and in addition to that they are obsessed with quality. www.supermediastore.com is always where I get my discs.

This seems to happen with alot of dvd recorders especially if discs left unfinalised for long periods of time. This happens on all makes of recorders not just your model. Also the quality of the dvds being used can be the problem. How old is your recorder as the only other problem which could cause this is the laser losing power
