I have a 1989 Bronco 2 and it is not getting the fuel right. I think it is the fuel pump. Does anyone think what else it would be. I already replaced the filter. How would I replace the fuel pump?

o.k. check the fuse also the fuel pump relay you can download the manual in there is the fuse diagram go to 1989 ford bronco owners manual from ford it's free and can be put on your phone or you can print it this will help it also could be a broken wire or dirty connection

It could have a weak or failing ignition coil. The other thing I can think to look for would be an exhaust restriction.. (clogged catalytic converter)

What about the fuel filter?? was it replaced?

Assuming she ran good before she sat, replacing the plugs, cap and rotor isn't a bad idea.Step 1: Make sure you have good spark. No need to worry about timing right now. Step 2: If you have spark, then we have to see if its getting gas. There are two fuel pumps on this Bronco. One in tank and one on the frame rail. Can you hear either one running? The in tank one should come on for a few minutes and shut off. The front one is harder to hear.If you hear it, borrow or rent a FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE and check your fuel pressure. There is a fitting similar to a tire valve on fuel rail. Pressure should remain constant.If either pump fails you will not get adequate fuel flow. The front pump is easy to get to for trouble-shooting. Don't buy anything unless your sure you will need it. Hope this helps.

I would consider the O2 sensor and the coolant tempurature sensor.

I just had the same problem, today, check the tan- lt green wire on the fuel relay that is located on the right fender, mine wasn't pushed in all the way, this wire shut down spark and fuel

sounds like it could be the relay. also this one has 2 pumps I think, one in the tank LP and one on the rail just under the driver. 2 relays also one for each.

sounds like you have a problem with your fuel pump relay. there is an underhood power distribution box, will be a plastic box with a lid on it. relay is in this box. it just unsnaps and a new one snaps in. the power distribution box might be on the fender or the firewall, but i'm sure you will find it.replace that relay and see what happens, think that will fix it. if it doesn't then i would suspect the wires to the relay. hope that helps

i dont think they will. you would be better off finding the right one versus trying to make something work and then you might have even more problems to deal with

Underneath your hood, behind the passenger side headlight, behind the core support, is a bank of 2-8 relays. One of those relays is the relay needed for your fuel pump. There will also be a fuel pump relay fuse located there. The relay designation should be on the cover of the relay compartment.

possibly a fuel blockage. Is it getting fuel up the top?
