Hi, I had the message waste ink near full for a while and I could get it to print but now the whole thing is jammed up. As far as I'm aware the error message 343 means waste ink tank is full!! I understand there is a routine to reset this issue and the ink pads may not be full. I don't mind if a bit of ink spills over, I would just like to get a bit more life out of the machine. I've seen some routines for other canon printers but not for the MP730. And Canon won't tell on their support line!! Any ideas
1-press the "menu" key
2-press the"copy" key
3-press the"#" key
scroll thru the menu heading until you come to "counter"
and select "clear all" it will ask you to "please wait"
then press menu two times
restart your printer
it will work

It means you need to replace the waste ink absorbers, they are pads under the print engine, around $10.00 but best done in a shop where they have access to the diagnostic mode to reset the waste ink counter.
I have had this problem. There is a counter in your printer that must be reset to move on. The ink tank may not be full, but the counter estimates it is full (and maybe it is an instruction to you to buy a new Canon printer), and to actually empty the ink tank would be an uneconomical task. How do you do it, there are a number of helpers here so Google: MP730 waste ink near full.
To reset waste tank full error in MP730. 1. Hit the "menu": Key 2. Hit "Copy" Key 3. Hit "#" Key 4. Scroll thru the menu headings until you come to "Test Mode" - 12th heading 5. Hit the "3" button- this will bring up Eprom Clear 6. Hit "0" button 7. Hit the "Stop" button Can only try then your printer go on longer but some time the other you need to clean out the waste ink it inside the printer go to open up all.
