I use a Unisys uds9718 lazer printer. It has a false paper jam error message. I believe a spring by the paper rollers became detached & I am not sure where it is supposed to go.

  • When you first receive this error, do the following:
    1. Take out paper tray 1.
    2. Remove any jammed sheets of paper you find there.
    3. Once you have done this, reinstall the paper tray and try printing again.
Note: You may receive a message informing you that another sheet of paper is jammed elsewhere in the printer. If so, please open the front door and remove the toner cartridge. Also open the rear door of the printer (and the duplex option if a duplex unit is installed). Remove any and all jammed sheets of paper you find. Then try printing again.
    4. If the printer jams again with a 241 Paper Jam error message, look to see if it has tried to feed a sheet of paper out of the tray.
      • If paper is not leaving the tray and no paper appears to be jammed anywhere in the printer, remove paper tray 1 once again. Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the tray. With the tray removed, you can also check the feed/pick rollers. Do the following:
        1. Look into the printer where the tray goes.
        2. Look for two tan-colored rubber rollers (circled in green in the picture below). These are the rollers that grab and feed the paper up into the printer.

          I use a Unisys uds9718 - pattlnk_152005_208-pick%20rollers.jpg
        3. Clean off the rollers with a dry cloth and try printing again.
        4. If the printer still will not pull any paper, your feed rollers may be worn. As a temporary fix, you can try flipping the rubber feed rollers inside out. Remove paper tray 1 again and carefully remove the rubber tire off each of the roller wheels. Then flip the rubber tire inside out and put it back on the wheel. Caution! Be very careful not to damage the rubber tire when doing this.
        5. If either step 3 or 4 fixes the problem, your feed rollers are worn and will eventually need to be replaced. However, you should be able to continue to use the printer temporarily.
        6. If the paper still does not feed at all, the feed motor to tray 1 may not be feeding the paper. In this case, the printer will require service.
      • If paper is feeding out of the tray but getting jammed, you may be able to pinpoint the source of the problem by taking a close look at where the leading edge of the paper is stopped.
        • If the paper is getting jammed right at tray 1, a small piece of paper may be stuck in one of the rollers at the front of the printer. Do the following:
        1. Remove paper tray 1.
        2. Look into the printer where the paper tray goes. Look upwards into the very front of that area. You should see a slot or guide where the paper will go once it is fed out of the tray. Towards the left-hand side, there is a set of feed rollers. A small piece of paper can get wrapped around one of the rollers here.
        3. If you see a small piece of paper stuck in one of these rollers, try to remove it.
        4. If you cannot reach it or it cannot be removed, the assistance of a service technician will probably be needed.

To complete steps 1-3 above, it may help to lay the printer on its side. If you do this, please use caution when lifting the printer. Remove the toner cartridge and the paper tray before setting the printer on its side. Also make sure the printer is powered off and unplug any and all cords, especially the power cord, going into the printer. Refer to the photos below for guidance on where to look into the printer for the feed rollers. The rollers are located in the area of the printer highlighted by the yellow circles.

        • If the paper is getting past the front of the printer and jamming elsewhere with a 241 Paper Jam error, do the following:
        1. Look for any obstructions at the leading edge of where the paper is jamming.
        2. If you are not able to find (and remove) any obstruction, the printer will probably need service to isolate the problem and replace the failing component.
  • Another way you can find out if your printer will require service for this issue is to obtain the secondary codes for the paper jam error. To do this:
    1. As soon as you receive the 241 Paper Jam error message, press and hold the Return button.
    2. While holding down the Return button, press the Select button. Two lines of numbers will appear on the printer screen. These are the secondary codes.
    3. If the top line of the secondary code is 8E XX 06 X1 (where X can be any letter or number), the problem could be with the pick motor for tray 1. This will probably result in the printer needing service.
  • You should also check the type of media you are using. Are you printing on regular plain bond copy paper?

If not, try printing again with plain copy paper. Certain specialty papers - letterhead stock, label stock, and card stock - can promote jamming. Testing the printer with plain paper will eliminate special media as part of the cause of the jamming. Even if this special paper has worked fine in the past, please test the printer with plain copy paper before arranging to have the printer serviced.

  • If you continue to receive the jamming error after checking all of these possibilities, the printer may require service.
You may also receive this error when printing from tray 2 or tray 3.

Thanks for using FixYa. Switch off the printer and pull out the plug from the power socket and mains. Switch it on again after 10-15 minutes. Open and close the doors and remove the toner cartridges and re-insert them after 5 minutes. The printer give a paper jam error when switches aren't activated at the right time or due to a piece of paper stuck in the machine, paper removed where the printer thought there was paper, or a bad switch. If the printer is giving this error immediately after you turn it on and you can't find any foreign object it is called a "false paper jam" and need service. This might be a minor problem, a stuck lever, or dirty contact or an inexpensive switch that needs to be replaced.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

If thats the case then first,
verify that there is actually no paper jam (open all the doors, take out the
paper tray, take out the cartridges and visually inspect). Turn printer off and
unplug the printer from all cables (power, USB, etc). Try to hold it upside
down and gently shake it so that if there is any paper inside it’s removed.
    If still
it’s not resolved then clean the print head. To clean the print head take a hot
water towel with the printer unplugged and the cartridges out, clean it till the
time you see there is no ink residue on the towel.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is
resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Why do i have a false jam reading?

I understand that you're receiving what you believe to be a 'false' paper jam on your HP Photosmart C6280 All-in-One Printer. I would like to work with you today with resolving this issue. Paper jams can be real or false. The product might report a paper jam even when there is no jammed paper. A false paper jam may also be the result of having a bad paper jam at a point in time and that bad jam causing a hardware issue to the paper sensor or rollers. I am going to provide you with some additional troubleshooting steps that apply to both real and false paper jams. You did state that you already checked the paper pathway inside the printer and failed to find any evidence of paper being stuck, but please run the step-by-step troubleshooting below, even if you have already run some of the steps.

Here are the steps for clearing the path:

I have a HP LaserJet 1312nfi that is giving me a FALSE paper jam message. I repeat - FALSE PAPER JAM IN BACK DOOR. False false false. I have uninstalled it on my computer and nothing. I have opened it...

Hello Chris! Welcome to FixYa!

If you are facing False Paper Jam error in your HP Laser Jet 1312nfi but If you cant see any obvious paper jams, try to look closely into the rollers or the inside. There could be some tiny paper shreds stuck within those rollers. Or there could be a tiny piece of paper blocking the printer's sensor and thus giving you a false paper jam error.
The rollers should be cleaned if the paper fails to feed smoothly into the unit. All document and media rollers should be cleaned using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water.

1. Turn Off the printer and unplugged power before cleaning the rollers. This will allow the rollers to be turned by hand in most cases.
2. Remove the rear access door to access the rollers. Clean any dust and debris from the rollers.
3. Open the back of the printer and check metal paper rollers (not the rubber rollers) in the interior of the printer. They should be clean and move freely. If these are not bright and shinny or have buildup on them, they should be cleaned. Also clean any dust and debris off of the rubber rollers.
4. Close the back cover and reattach the rear access door.
5. Plug the power cord back in and power the unit up. It should reinitialize for about 20 seconds.
6. Print another extended self-test page.
After following these steps carefully, False Error message will be disappeared.
I hope this solution helps you

I use a Unisys uds9718 printer. I receive 935 service print head error. Any suggestions? I have wiped down all the rollers.

This is similar to an error I fixed for a relative, who has an HP printer. What you need to do is call the manuacturer, and ask for another print head. My relative got hers free, because she was under warranty. Hopefully it's the same case for you.
Just change the print head and your good to go. Hope I helped. Post on my site and I will get back to you.

Lexmark Optra T612

The broken part is called the bell crank arm part number 56P1228 this is very common. If the printer isn't recognising your tray, remove it and check the little plastic fingers on the left side (half way down the tray) and the metal springs in the printer (left side) which the tray pushes on to.

Hp laserjet 4250n paper jam in 13.01.00

According to the manual: "A 13.01.00 error message indicates that the media did not arrive at the pre-feed sensor (PS102) within the specified time." That usually means that the rollers fail to pickup the paper from Tray 2. Usually, cleaning the paper feed roller in the 500 sheet tray should fix this. While blowing out dust, you may have coated this roller with paper dust. A quick way to double check this is to power cycle the printer & try to print from Tray 1, the MP feeder tray (unless Tray1 has rarely or never been might be a little tempermental as well). Regardless, this error is very common & is usually fixed by cleaning. Depending on usage, this roller is considered a customer replacable item (Part # RM1-0037-000CN) with a life expectancy of more than 200,000 pages. There are 3 of that type roller in the printer, but the one in the tray is usually the 1st one to fail. Hope this helps!

Error 13-jam paper HP Laser 4+

HP LaserJet 4, 4m, 4 Plus and 4m Plus Series Printers - False Error Message 13 PAPER JAM ISSUE: After clearing all jammed paper from the HP LaserJet 4, 4m, 4 Plus, or 4m Plus series printer, the display still reads 13 Paper Jam . Even after cycling the power off and then back on, the error remains. SOLUTION: Open the rear door of the printer. There is a paper sensor near the upper right hand corner of the fusing assembly (just below the right edge of the long yellow warning sticker on the fuser) that can cause paper jam error messages even when there is no jammed paper in the printer. Toggle the thin black plastic lever up and down to make sure it is not stuck or sticky. The lever should be in the down position before closing the back of the printer. If the lever is stuck or missing, the printer will generate a false paper jam message. Hope it will help you !

HP Laserjet 1020: False paper jam

Hp false paper jam error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.
