Question about Brother Office Equipment & Supplies
The first thing i would look at is the toner cartridge, or print drum. not sure what printer you have so some have both some only have
1. if that doesnt correct it then you could have a worn fusing assembly, toner can build up on the fuser and cause ghosting or light shading. the other issue could be dust or toner on the lens on the scanner assembly. if this is the case, as with the fuser as well disassembly of the printer would be required to remedy these issues. the scanner itself could be defective as well.
you can try to do whats called a half print test where you send a job or a internal test print to the printer and stop the print process by opening the toner door when the paper is just a few inches beyond the toner. it should have print on the page but it should not go thru the fuser process. toner should wipe off the page. this test will eliminate the fuser as the problem. if the defect is not there before it goes thru the fuser then the problem is probably the fuser. if it is then the toner cartridge or laser scanner may have issues.
