We have a lexmark c912 printer and it's leaving red smudges at the top and the bottom of the printed sheets. What to do?

Hello,
This could be due to a bad Magenta Photoconductor. Try this link. http://bit.ly/c652sm It gives you a step by step guide on how to switch the Photoconductor so you can troubleshoot if the Magent photoconductor is damaged and needs to be replaced.

Lexmark C912 not reporting toner properly


print the status page make sure the revision level in the lower right corner is greater than 803.04 if its not go to lexmark to update the code if it is greater than. press the right arrow until reset toner Lvl appears in the display press select. use the right arrow to scroll through the colors to be reset. when you get tot the color you want to reset hit select it should give a brief message resseting toner then move to the next one. when finished you will need to power the machine down and back on again before the changes will take effect.

What the error means:

The 994 Density Error indicates that the printer's system card has encountered an unrecoverable error.

What to do:

This error normally requires a service call. However, on certain rare occasions, such as a power fluctuation or a stray static discharge in the vicinity of the printer, can cause a false 994 Density Error message to appear. In such cases, the error is only temporary and can be easily resolved without service. Follow the steps in the table to check.

Step Action
1 Power the printer off, wait ten seconds, and then power the printer back on.

Did the error message return?

Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Print a test page. If the page prints, the printer is functioning correctly.

2 If possible, connect the printer's power cord directly into a grounded wall outlet. In rare instances, a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) can generate false error messages.

Did the error message return?

Yes: Continue to 'Contacting Lexmark' below.
No: Print a test page. If the page prints, the printer is functioning correctly

demension is in inches, you need to convert it to centermeter.

980 error code is internal printer error. This is beyond users capability.
turn off the printer and check all cable connections.
turn on the printer, you need to call lexmark service, if the error return.

Lexmark x4270 smudges and garbles one - two lines per page


Post back with more details please, what OS, if attached to a pc, own refill or store bought, how old is cartridge, have you checked all printer settings? Have you cleaned you printheads? or ran allignment check?
