Needle and assembly holding bobbin are out of sync

You probably have several things going on. First--the motor does not turn the handwheel. Second--the needle/hook timing needs to be reset.

You may just want to take it for service. However, if you search the internet for instructions on how to fix sewing machine timing, you'll find quite a bit of information and videos.

As for the motor needing assistance to run the machine, could very well be that the machine has not been cleaned and oiled for a long time and the old oil has dried up (if it is a mechanical machine). You can do this yourself, but be prepared with plenty of patience and time:

It was working now it seems to be frozen the needle part wont move

I have gone through 3 needles and I've never had an issue before. The machine ate my fabric and I pulled it out (big mistake) and now my needles keep breaking.

1. Put one drop of oil on race. The bobbin case has two screws to adjust to keep it from moving either clockwise or counter clockwise. You will need to adjust these. It is tricky but once in the right position it will only move slightly. Give just enough free movement to allow thread to fit through.
2. Adjust the bobbin tension. The screw on the bobbin will need to be adjusted so it has a tension which equals four on the upper tension. This is a little tricky but if you're off a little you can adjust the upper tension to correct this. NOTE: You are trying to adjust the upper tension and the bobbin tension to be equal. This is similar to a tug of war.
3. Try to turn the hand wheel. Watch to see if the needle thread will ride across the top of the bobbin. It should do this without the thread getting stuck. If it gets stuck you will need to adjust the bobbin case screws to allow a little more movement allowance.
4. Replace the needle.
5. If you still notice the needle striking something under the throat plate you will need to have your machine timed.

Bernina 1030 starts by itself and runs very slowly some time after parking the needle at the top

This is most likely a fault in the foot control. Normally supplied with this machine is a Type 10 and this can be fixed quite easily but probably not by the machine's owner unless you have some electrical and mechanical experience.

If you have knowledge of and access to a multimeter, you can test it. What working properly, you will find the following:
Pedal released: resistance is infinite (anything around 4k Ohms or less and the machine will run).
Heel pressed: resistance is about 10k Ohms.
Toe steadily pressed from nothing to all the way down: resistance is infinite then after a small depression, jumps to about 4k Ohms steadily decreasing to zero as the pedal reaches all the way down.

Your problem, being at the point where the pedal isn't pressed suggests that there's some contamination in the pedal. It's also possible that you have a type 365 pedal (as used on the 930) and this is more likely to give this kind of trouble due to the use of carbon brushes in this foot pedal.

My machine turns on but is not stitching when the pedal is pressed. There is no up and down movement of needle etc.

You may need either a new foot pedal or an air transducer. That's not as scary as it sounds, I just replaced mine:) You can get parts cheap at

Janome Overlocker has power to the light but when I press the pedal nothing happens. Any suggestions to resolve this issue?

can you hear the engine humming when you plug it in? if so, that eliminates electrical supply to the engine.

If you manually turn the flywheel towards you does the loopers and needles move through a stitch sequence? If yes, then its not the main drive gears inside. If there is no movement or if a looper just "flops" around, you've got an internal drive problem, probably time to take it to a technician.

Lastly, check that the looper cover and side cover are fully closed as they will have safetly cutouts on the doors that prevent the machine from operating when the door is still not fully closed.

Machine will not go forward when pressing the foot pedal. Manual says something about checking bobbin winder indent. What is a "Bobbin winder indent."

bobbin winder is the little spindle on top usually right side above the flywheel. you need to move it left away from the stop as this engages the bobbin winder and disengages the needle movement. your manual should show this under Winding a bobbin. these machines dont have a clutch on the flywheel, just moving the bobbin spindle declutches

Foot pedal and thread guide

Same thing happened to my CE-200. It would only stitch one stitch at a time or else it would run full speed. My husband made an adjustment through a small hole on the back of the pedal and it now works much better. The adjustment hole apparently allows you to set the sensitivity of the electronics inside the pedal. He turned it slightly toward the + direction. It took a couple of small adjustments to get it to work nearly normal again.
