Question about Vizio P2 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

1 Answer

Vizeo 42 hd plasma tv (model v42hdtv10a)won't turn on. I checked the fuses and found one burnt out on the upper left board (when looking from the back of the tv.) I replaced this fuse (4 amp 250v ceramic)and turned on the unit. Then a loud pop sound and smoke came out. I checked all the fuses again and they were all good. what could have happened? Where do I go from here?

Hi, do you know from what area the smoke came from?
4 Amps seems a little high. Sounds like power transistors have blown, maybe even a capacitop or a main filter cap has gone short.

Sorry i can't help much, is there anywhere inside that would indicate a different manufacturer?

Board numbers, chassis numbers , i will try and help.

Regards - Anthony

WON TURN ON

For the first step, try using the button on the TV itself.
Secondly, check if the power cord is snug, and not burnt. Sometimes after a blackout, there would be a power surge, and that might burn your plug.

If both doesn't work, the fuse in your TV may be blown, or the Power Supply may also be burnt too. If this happens, you're going to have to hire an expert to help replace the broken parts.

Note that in some TV models, the fuse can be replaced by users. If this is your case, try checking the fuse to see if it's blown or not.

Your Buffer boards or the YSUS main are bad. THe YBU-Y Buffer upper controls the top half of display, the YBL-Y Buffer lower controls the bottom half and the YSUS Main controls both those boards. They are located to the Far Left on and opened Set.

DELL PLASMA

Most cases the Y-SUS, Y upper buffer, and Y lower buffer is the problem. The replace the 3 boards are located on the left side of the chassis when you open up the TV. 90% of the time this will solve the problem.
Look for burn marks on the upper and lower buffer boards (mostly around the chips with the heatsinks on them).

I have a 42" lg plamsa tv the screen went black and still had sound.. found a blown fuse on the board to the right of the power board, when i replaced the fuse,it will power up and then 5 seconds later i...

The fuse you have replaced would have been on the sustain board, now that it clicks indicates a problem either with the control board or the sustain board. You would need to disconnect the connector from the power board to the Y-sustain board (left of power board) to check if the Vs & Va voltages are present, if so then the power supply will be working ok & the problem will be with the previously mention boards. There is the possibility that the plasma display screen could also be faulty.

No power

First off I did not see make or model. When plasmas die you have failure in either the power supply of the sustain boards. Do you have any voltage readings from va or vs ?

Check the fuse on Y Sustain Board. If the fuse was gone, replace that board.
