I've had a similar problem. If you open up the case and examine the wiring you might find that there is a loose wire right next to the switching mechanism. Solder the wire back on and the chopper should function. I've had the similar issue, my chopper was accidentally dropped & stopped working after that. After I soldered back the short wire, chopper came back to normal operation. Hope this helps.

make sure bowl and lid are on correctly. If not, it wont run. Both have safety switches where they lock onto the unit. If latch tab is broken, you will need new bowl or lid. If still nothing, switch itself is bad

Hamilton beach food processor won't turn on

DYI fix job on mine. DIsassembles base and switch assembly. Added a rectangular piece of plastic just above litlle balck trigger switch. Taped switch casing's side (not my plastic piece) so that my plastic piece would not fallout. Re-assembled. Voil?. Problem was that travel length of whole trigger mechanism was a bit too short to trigger the switch. With the added plastic piece, travel was extended a little to make the whole thing work, but not so much so that it would always unsafely stay ON when plugged. Tried various other gluing options on other pieces before that, but nothing would hold.

Wont turn on. Wife was making something that put a strain on the food processor and it just stopped.

Hi!
Check the power source or the plug. It might be that the power source is not stable or check the plug if it has loosened or not. Or, check if your wife has something too hard processed inside esp. ice cubes (as she may need to pound it into smaller pieces). Also, let her try to adjust the mode.
Hope it helps.

KitchenAid KFP740 9 Cups Food Processor: I used my processor last in September, 2010 to blend tomatoes for salsa (it was working just fine). When I tried to use it again in Dec., 2010 it simply wouldn't...

Most likely it will be to do with the bowl or the lid. The safety mechanisms in both parts are likely culprits, they operate a micro switch just above the switch panel and hidden by the base of the bowl. Have just the bare motor plugged in and turned on with the run button depressed. Now with something plastic depress that small black button, the motor will likely start running. That proves motor is fine and you need to figure out which of the bowl or lid is the faulty part. The pusher needs to be in the lid tube before the motor will run in case you have forgotten.

Wont run

If you try the instructions below, and the motor test fails, you can send it in to Cuisinart for a trade-in, but the trade-in will be just as expensive as getting a new food processor (unless your product has an extra-long motor warranty):

You can test the motor by plugging the food processor in, pressing the on switch and using a pen to press the dark grey or black button on top of the base of the food processor. As long as it spins, the motor is definitely good. Next, unplug the food processor. For the food processor to work, you need to have the work bowl, lid, and pusher sleeve all inserted - if one part of the work bowl is not attached, then the food processor will not spin the blade. Once all three pieces have been inserted, plug it in and turn it on. If the blade is still not spinning, then there is a problem with the element that runs from the back of the pusher sleeve down through the work bowl that triggers the motor button. In that event, you can go to Cuisinart's website and order a new bowl, lid, and/or pusher sleeve - if you see any obvious damage to one part, you can order just that one part. If it is not apparent which part is damaged, order the whole work bowl. Make sure you enter your exact model# at Cuisinart's website, because a DLC-7 is not the same as a DLC-7E or 7P, for instance. The work bowl parts are expensive, so I would just write down the part numbers from Cuisinart's website and find them cheaper elsewhere. There is also a video on the website that shows you how to use the food processors - the first part of the video describes work bowl assembly. Once you get this food processor working, it is going to last forever. Have fun!
