Question about Palit Microsystems PalitDaytona GeForce4 Ti4200 Graphic Card
Hi i bought a palit daytona Geforce 4 ti 4200 128 MB graphics card and after installing into my system it blows my blows my 450 W power supply and trip my MCB. The system i am using is a Pentium 3 750 Mhz CPU and a Asus p2b-f motherboard using the intel bx chipset with 256 MB SD ram. AGP2X 3.3 V only. What could have happened? Isnt the Geforce 4 ti4200 backwards compatible with the AGP 2x slot? Please help?

Check to see if you can upgrade the bios or set it to 8X if not, then your wasting the potential of the card.
Also, your power suply may not have enough power for all the devices you have hooked in, try unplugging the CD. floppy drive and try booting with just the main componets and see if it blows the PW supply again.
450W should be enough but may be not, depending on how many fans and other devices you have. Plus, the mainboard may not be able to handle it. Its shutting off to protect the system from getting fried.
Again, check the bios, you may be able to set it to a higher output for that Video card. Or even change it to 8x. It is quite old though, you may just have to put in for a new system. Keep all your receipts in case you have to take back that video card.
