My RC-1 remote will not trigger the shutter of my Canon Eos Rebel XT. The batteries are fully charged but I do not know it the remote is working or not. The camera doesn't respond. Bulb is being used.
you may also need to update some firmware and driver's too..
please let me know if this helped you.. i'm not sure how old your camera is but maybe the remote may just be bad now.. you can replace those.. also check your settings on the camera, maybe you accidently changed something without knowing but chances are you already did that.. make sure your camera battery is not low too.. good luck, d
You say that the Bulb is being used, can you please clearly mention which bulb.? Have us ever dropped your remote..? Do you use your remote softly or rashly..?
Waiting for your reply

Same thing happened to me a while ago. I was in a panic. I turned it on and off several times...no change. Finally, I turned the camera to the off position, took the battery out of the camera for about 30 seconds and put it back in again and it worked fine. No problem since.
Ive heard it's around £170 in the UK - whether they replace one tiny part or practically the whole thing. Might be cheaper to get a replacement from an auction site!
This is usually caused by a defective shutter release switch - it'll have to go into a repair shop - independent shops will charge about $110 USD - Canon charges about $180
Error 99 is a "catch all" error that has several causes. It could be that your battery is not fully charged, especially if it is a generic, non-Canon battery. Charge for at least over night even if the charger says it's full. If that's not the cause, switches inside the camera will have to be cleaned by a repair shop.
The RC-1 should be compatible with the Rebel XT. It can be set to a 2-second delay or no delay; pressing the button will activate metering, autofocus, and the shutter all at once.
