Bust out the soldering iron and a magnifying glass. Unfortunately when the lead break off the connector on a flash drive, that's your best bet.

My computer keeps beeping like there is something connecting to the USB drive, but there is nothing connected there

Check if there is something in one of the USB ports. Also check all of USB ports; is there any bent metal? Usually, the metal is bent and short the port.

I bent my flashdrive and now it won't read. I initially was able to wiggle it around and once it read, I could drag one file to the desk top. Now, I can't it to read at all. What shall I do?

I would check the pins in the end of the flash drive and see if any of them are bent back. If these metal pieces aren't in the right place then the flash drive won't be able to connect to your laptop. I would try bending them back into place with a small flat head screwdriver. If you don't want to fix it yourself then I suggest you either buy a new flash drive or take it to an electronics store for more help.

I have a WD1600. When I turn the computer on, I hear a ticking noise from the hard drive. It ticks 10 times and pauses, and again until I get a hard drive failure on my screen.

The ticking is the reading head trying to read the data. Since it fails that means that the hard disk has died. This is unfixable and all the data on it is lost. Just take it out and replace it.

I have a on going problem with my 99 gmc sonoma. The drive shaft is not well balanced. It is a three piece shaft, could I replace it with a older model straight drive shaft with no problem?

You will need to remove the hanger for the steady bearing because the one piece can hit on it, especially if you put something in the box. Other than that, it shouldn't be a problem if you can find one the right length. Hope this helps.

Negative metal piece gone for battery

Yes, you can replace it. If you are creative you can jury rig something to work. This type of failure of battery connections is fairly common.

Find a piece of metal that can be soldered and bent as needed.

You will need to take care in dis-assembly of the unit.

500G my book clicks and it is not recognized by my computer

Did you recently drop it? Usually the clicking noise means there is a slight bent metal object that is hitting when it tried to read. There is nothing to fix it. You'll will have to purchase a new one if it still doesn't decided to read

Blades won't turn to cut grass

On the chute where the grass comes out there is a black piece of metal under the edge of the deck held on by the 2 big thumb screws is probably bent. You will need to try to move the blade on the side near the chute by hand (Make sure the mower is not running when you do this) if the blade touches the black piece of metal it will kill the mower if you engage the blades and try moving forward. Anyway you need to take the black metal piece off and bend the corner out of the way (I used a crescent and clamped it to the hitch on my pickup). I am guessing i went over something like a street curb with the deck when it was to low and that bent it. Now when ever I move the mower from someones yard or drive it across the street I always raise the deck up all the way. I hope this helps

Formed metal wire inside handle

this bent metal wire goes right at the surface in a grove where the two pieces of the handle go together where your fingers grip it. I think it is to discharge static electricity.

Gas hatch will not release on my rav4, How can I get it open. Need to fill up.

e most common problem is the spring on the fuel door breaks off. Have someone pull on the release cable handle, insert a credit card or something like that under the edge of the gas door, see if it will open that way. If it opens, look at the hinged end, you will probably see a piece of plastic, which holds a piece of bent springy metal. If the bent piece of metal is missing, you need to buy another at a Toyota dealer parts dept. If the bent piece of metal IS there, bend it further open to increase the tension. Try this, & if neither helps, get back to me for further info.
